Enjoying this great 250th birthday and incredible freedom with boat, bobbers, BBQ, bonfire, booms and bourbon!  And family and friends.

Hope you all are doing something you enjoy!

Oh and my sis-in-law who is a trained baker is making the apple pie, and I'll also make a batch of homemade ice cream later this afternoon.  My mom's recipe with a cooked custard, it's absolutely the best ice cream on the planet.
Cindy makes the best apple pies all from scratch and organic she uses cinnamon and like a thimble of pure not refined cane sugar. Raw sugar is processed less than white sugar the impurities that are removed when processing white sugar—in the form of molasses—are not removed yet. Sometimes using brown sugar for more flavor depth, and sometimes she doesn't depending on type of apples. The rest obviously comes from the apples themselves.

I haven't the foggiest about any of that. But for me she adds no sugar I like the straight up taste, like Black Coffee. She has swapped pies with the owner of local donut shop where we pick up donuts once a week, not sold at the end of the day. We take those boxes in the next day for volunteers at the food pantry where we volunteer :celebrate:

Got outside, swept down the pool, unfurled the sun umbrellas, washed off the pool deck.

In a couple hours I'll pull the brisket off the smoker and finish in the oven so I can take a shower and get rid of the smoky smell.

Some family and friends will be over around 3, for some swimming and watching the World Cup game, and then dinner, and then fireworks. We're very close to the big park where our city shoots them off every year, and we can see them from the front yard, but we may actually walk all the way to the park this year.  It's a quick 10 minute walk, less than a mile.
