Big Sky has gobbled up a fair amount of P5 roadkill.   I was revisiting Paul Wulff's historically awful tenure at Wazzu the other night, and noticed he's an assistant now at Sac State.

Wow, OSU3 had the same AD that he worked for at USU. Weird.

http://www.sltrib.com/sports/2017/10/09/utah-native-gary-andersen-out-as-oregon-states-football-coach-and-hes-waiving-11-million-contract/

The coach-athletic director combination that once revived Utah State’s downtrodden football program stayed together for only six games at Oregon State.
Salt Lake City native Gary Andersen resigned as the Beavers’ coach Monday in a surprising development — topped only by the news that Andersen is forgoing the remaining $11 million on a contract scheduled to run through 2021 with no buyout provision, according to The Oregonian of Portland.
Yeah, who made Pitt fans really question the state of their program when he left Pitt to return west.  I think he's from out west and the wife was getting homesick though.

Apparently he's waiving his buyout, which would have entitled him to $12.7 million.

Makes me think there's something off the field he doesn't want getting out there.

My thoughts too. You don't just walk away from that kind of money unless there's a DAMN good reason. We'll probably never know what that reason is, at least "officially" outside of some rumor mill.
I thought I settled my debts that night on the ride home
But I have still got hell to pay

Said the same about Kevin Wilson at Indiana, and it came out almost immediately right?
I bet he wishes he had taken the money.

Some familiar rings to this one...

Really?
I assumed it was a given he was fired at the end of the year.  A little surprise it happened now, and I guess leaving $12 million on the table is shocking, but I thought him being done there was a given.

Sounds like they were going to stay the course, but it also sounds like they didn't know how bad things were in that coaches room.

There is stuff coming out that makes it not shocking at all. Nothing bad, except that he hated his staff and wanted more JuCo kids and grad transfers because he didn't think he could win with the kids he had. That stuff is not shocking...

Weird dude.

It will be interesting to see where he winds up.

USU doesn't really need him at the moment, but another MWC team might take a flier on him.

He ran roughshod over that conference at a program that had been struggling mightily before he showed up.
If thing go as they are now, Tennessee will probably be looking for a new coach. JMO

I don't see him in another P5 job to be very honest. He's just not built for that and he would be a disaster at Tennessee to boot. He likes finesse teams with spread-option QB's and little linemen.

That doesn't work in the SEC (or B1G).

Plus, he's got a record of quitting now. He quit on Wisconsin and now he's quit on Oregon State. Who wants to take a chance on that?

Honestly I think he's done - mostly because he just wants to be done.
