Kinda validates my theory.

All a coach will ever be, he’s probably there by season three.

The more helmety the program the truer the phrase.

Your Season 3 rhyme may have something to it. But, you might add: "If you want to know more, wait for Season 4."

I was skeptical about Kirk Ferentz when he arrived back in Iowa City. Most of us were looking forward to the U of Iowa hiring Bobby Stoops.

Ferentz started out 4-19.

But,

Year 3 - 7-5.
Year 4 - 11-2

It made me feel better about him.

Frost might get a call from Osborne after that press conference

taking the heat from the players is always good, but............... that's not the way.

Who would have ever suspected that Bert would run the ball a lot, and mix in some play action pass, along with the occasional jet sweep?

especially after the starting QB goes down

Frost was actually talking about the Illlini defense, but..........

Urban once admitted that he didn't expect Virginia Tech to roll out the "Bear" three man front, and that they had no answer for it.

He lost the game and caught Hell for his inability to make adjustments on the fly. Then he won out to a NC.

So it's not the end of the world that Frost made that honest confession.

No, it isn't but your comparing Scott Frost to Urban Meyer here reminds me of Dan Quayle comparing himself to JFK during his VP debate with Lloyd Bentsen.

The problem isn't one game or even one season, it is this:
  • 4-8/3-6 in 2018
  • 5-7/3-6 in 2019
  • 3-5/3-5 in 2020
  • 0-1/0-1 so far in 2021

He is in year four and there is no discernable improvement.  His team just lost to the least talented squad in the league and looked unprepared and fundamentally unsound in the loss.

They have Oklahoma, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Iowa still remaining on the schedule (including those last three back-to-back-to-back to end the season).

I see five losses (one already happened, four basically guaranteed).  Outside of Fordham this week I don't see a "lock" win.  I just can't see them doing better than 5-7.

If you were to pinpoint the exact moment it went off the rails, what would it be?

The one that comes to mind for me as an OSU fan was in 2019 when he was 3-1/1-0 hosting OSU. Nebraska was playing them tough early, then Scott frost pulled the option out of his back pocket and they rattle off like three straight 20 yard runs with the FB, HB and QB. OSU had to burn a time out on defense and Frost was looking like a genius, and then on the very next play Martinez(?) threw an armpunt into the endzone that got intercepted. Frost just collapsed into a pile on the ground, and you could just see his soul rip like Ralph Wiggum in the Valentines Day episode of the Simpsons. After that, they just got boat raced off of the field, and limped to a 2-7 finish, and the rest is history.

Ooo, they'd better be careful with all that.

He had to be pushing 4 bills.
