Hot take: Ryder Cup is most overrated big sporting event.

Hard to disagree. Especially since one side (Euros) care deeply about it while the other doesn't know what the fuss is all about...

There was a play TCU ran in the middle of the 2nd quarter where the QB ran the ball a few yards downfield, just outside the hashmarks, then forcefully threw the ball to a trailing RB (or possibly WR) outside the numbers.

I think in 5 years, everyone will be doing that 6-7-8 times per game.  It's like the old option run where the QB pitches 25 yards down the field.  Right now, it has the element of surprise, as once the QB passes the LOS, the perceived threat of a "pass" is gone, yet this is a fully-powered "pass" acting as a longer-distance option pitch.  The RB was 3-4 yards behind, so it was obviously a lateral, just with the ball flung out there at top speed.

That was a pretty sweet crowd rush at the end of FSU-Hoos. I watched that whole game.

Not sure what the plan is today, besides watching a ton of football. Not sure I'll make anything - the 3:30 kick for OSU means I don't want to be finagling with food at the dinner eating time. Might be a pizza delivery or Uber Eats kind of evening.

FSU VA reminded us that college football still has a bit of crazy baked in.

Good job Wahoos.

(And reminded me that excusing Luke Fickell because of injuries on the o-line is BS.)

It seems like every year there is a crazy chaotic weekend where a slew of top teams lose. I think it happens this weekend:

  • #8 FSU already lost to an unranked team.
  • #3 PSU or #6 Oregon will lose.
  • #4 LSU is an underdog at #13 Ole Miss
  • #5 UGA is barely favored at home against #17 Bama
  • #9 aTm is only a TD favorite at home against unranked Auburn

I just hope my Buckeyes survive in Seattle.

The lucky ones are #2 Miami, #7 Oklahoma, and #10 Texas as they have the week off.

Got a gift card for a golf course that's basically impossible to use to actually play golf... So my wife and I are going to go over there for lunch today.

She's got a birthday thing with her friends this evening, so I'm just going to roast up some chicken thighs and cauliflower tonight to be cheap & easy.

Purdue's on bye, so I'll probably start the day with some Ryder Cup as the early game slate looks rather unimpressive. If the USA keeps playing like they're playing, I'll probably go right into IU/IA for the early afternoon instead of the RC. At least it looks like there are a couple compelling 7:30 ET games.

What is this 'bye' you speak of?

I will sit here idle with my thoughts as I await your response.
