There was a play TCU ran in the middle of the 2nd quarter where the QB ran the ball a few yards downfield, just outside the hashmarks, then forcefully threw the ball to a trailing RB (or possibly WR) outside the numbers.
I think in 5 years, everyone will be doing that 6-7-8 times per game. It's like the old option run where the QB pitches 25 yards down the field. Right now, it has the element of surprise, as once the QB passes the LOS, the perceived threat of a "pass" is gone, yet this is a fully-powered "pass" acting as a longer-distance option pitch. The RB was 3-4 yards behind, so it was obviously a lateral, just with the ball flung out there at top speed.
