Gotta pick one and only one.

Definitely college football. I don't really care that much about the USMNT winning the World Cup. It would be cool and all, but it's not like I have a bunch of French neighbors I'd be bragging to.

College football for sure.  That's easy to say even though I'm a big fan of soccer.

Yep.  Yet my "well, back to 4 years of apathy" about soccer comment was questioned, lol.
This poll and this result DURING the World Cup is supposed to be revealing.
Thank you for the reveal.

I'm guessing everyone here would also pick a national championship over their favorite NFL team winning the Super Bowl.  So I guess people are also apathetic about the NFL by that standard

Yup.

I'd also take a college football national championship over a college baseball national championship or college volleyball national championshiop, yet those are still sports that I enjoy and discuss year-round-- just like soccer.

You suggested people only care about the World Cup based on how the USMNT does. Everyone said you were wrong and the poll says you are wrong. So that's the reveal.

It's just a weird and unnecessary attempt at a gotcha, on a message board dedicated to college football.

The people who like soccer, enjoy it and talk about it year-round.  Regardless of whether or not the USMNT is performing well, and regardless of whether or not the World Cup tournament is in progress.

On this message board the soccer fans are a minority.  In the US in general, soccer fans are a minority.  Nobody's disputing that, nobody's challenging that.  Which is what makes the attempted gotcha so strange and out of place.

Hmmm.

Here we are with another statistical flounder.
How many people is the "everyone" in your post?
And we have the viewership of the US-Belgium game posted here, right?
Let's see the Belgium-Spain numbers, shall we?

Then you can talk to me about being wrong.
THE MASSES (you know, the tens of millions) will care much, MUCH less about the WC going forward.  Not everyone.  Not small samples of 8 people.  Not the statistically insignificant sample that so many here obsess over and dwell on.
The tens of millions.

Let's see the numbers from the next round.  They should be higher, no?  With them being one step closer to the WC title.
Let's wait and see.
