Not exactly toasty in Iowa - it's so bad they have the courses closed.I have that on good authority

Minnesota should have an option to move games in November to US Bank (Vikings) Stadium if the weather is awful.

No.

As for the game, it all boils down to two things: turnovers and kick coverage. Hold onto the ball and don't give Iowa short fields. And make Iowa go 80+ yards on every possession.

Coming off their third consecutive win to get to 6-4 overall, 4-3 in Big Ten conference play, the Hawkeyes received another bump in the USA TODAY Sports’ 1-131 re-rank. This week saw the Hawkeyes climb nine more spots up to No. 45 overall.

Iowa’s upcoming opponent, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, find themselves at 7-3 and also rising in the re-rank. The Gophers handled lowly Northwestern last week to get a small climb of four spots up to No. 49.

this does not set up great for Minnesota outside of I dont think Iowa really likes playing in the temps that are coming this weekend in Minnesota

Minn at QB- decision do you give the ball to Tanner who might be accurate but cannot move well and cannot throw deep well. or to a freshman who will make mistakes and might give the ball away at times throughout the game?
one Minnesota offense is one dimensional and the other could give the ball away more

leads me to bet on Iowa  albeit it is at Minnesota and the cold Will play a part of the game
This is well-analyzed, except for the cold part. Iowa fans liked the Metrodome because it was tolerable to view the last game of the season, and there were enough tickets available to make it almost a home game. The players are indifferent.

Is Tanner Morgan available this coming Saturday? If he is healthy I think it is an easy decision. I don't think PJ gives very much information on injuries. The only comment I read was Tanner Morgan had an undisclosed upper body injury. Some weeks ago he was in concussion protocol, so is it a shoulder, ribs, or head injury? Does anyone on here know?

No I don’t think many know for sure outside of the team what injury Tanner has.

My guess concussion from Nebraska and that was 2nd in 3 weeks

Cold is cold but this will be a cold that will feel like single digits. Much worst for fans but players will feel it

Special Teams will be key

Even if Tanner was available, and I don't think he is, I wouldn't send him out. Athan's moving ability means that the porous nature of the Gopher OL can at least be somewhat negated. Recall Tanner's last play in Lincoln was a 17 yard sack in which he turtled up and went backwards.

This was his bonus COVID year. He's done after this fall.

Why Iowa Will Win
And THAT’S the Iowa we all know and love.

So what that it only came up with 146 yards of total offense against Wisconsin? The D came up with three takeaways, the special teams cranked up a few big plays, and the front line was a wall against the run in the 24-10 win.

No, the O isn’t the Greatest Show on Turf like it was against Northwestern and Purdue – it came up with over 300 yards – but as long as it does everything else right all should be fine.

Stop the Minnesota running game, don’t get hit with a lot of flags, win the turnover battle. Iowa can do that against a team that has no problem grinding things down.

Keep the Gophers to under 170 rushing yards and it’ll be a win – they’re 1-3 when they don’t get to the mark and 6-0 when they do.

Michigan and Illinois are the only two teams that got past 130 against the Hawkeye D, but …

Why Minnesota Will Win
Back to doing just about everything right – at least outside of having a high end passing game – welcome to Minnesota.

The Gophers have come up with one touchdown pass in the last six games, but they’ve turned it over just twice in the last four games, penalties aren’t an issue, and the team continues to own third downs.

It’s No. 1 in the nation in third down O, No. 2 in third down D, and that’s why the team is second in the country behind Air Force in time of possession.

Basically, Minnesota should be able to out-Iowa, Iowa. As long as there aren’t a slew of turnovers, and as long as the field isn’t tilted the wrong way, the home team should be able to handle it.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa and Iowa State will continue their annual football showdowns through at least 2027.

Athletic directors Gary Barta of Iowa and Jamie Pollard of Iowa State on Thursday announced the extension of the Cy-Hawk Series contract.

Iowa and Iowa State have played annually since resuming the series in 1977, excluding the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. The teams first met in 1894, with Iowa holding a 46-23 advantage in the series. Iowa State won 10-7 in Iowa City in September.
