Seems like the kind of thing that Jim "I don't publish depth charts" Harbaugh would do. I mean, he's not there, but who did Moore learn under?

That said, I still only think there's maybe 10% chance this actually was the strategy. I'm just trying to fill @Mdot21 with false hope so when Davis Warren goes out there to start the game next week he's primed for epic rants.
So here’s why this is sort of illogical.

Let’s say you’re holding stuff back. That means you’re going to run a fair amount of what you would call your “base” offense. Unless you’re Radically changing your scheme, the majority of that base is going to be the same as it was last year.

There’s often the belief that a team is holding back the “good“ plays. But the reality is your base stuff should be your best plays. Not your most fancy, but the ones that you practice the most and run the best. That’s why your offense is based in them. So noticeably better team should be able to win by running its best place effectively. When you were equal or worse, that’s when your cool and tricky stuff becomes more valuable.

But in a lot of cases, teams are just clunky and out of sync early in the season. Sometimes they get better, sometimes they don’t.

What's with the FSU upper deck on one side? It was completely empty last night. Is it closed?

USC prolly is the best team in the nation right now - quality win in a very tough venue. Riley got rid of Grinch and found a defense big boys to anchor the line like the old days. Even if the Horns do win in AA this saturday or of course if UNL up ends the Buffs

week one musings

fla st is atrocious.
bc appears much improved.
southern cal looks top 5 to me - that was a great game between two really good teams.
miami should win the acc, they are really good as well.

tom o'brien, pete carroll, chris rix, jeremy shockey etc it's the early 00's all over again. notre dame's even back to reprise their role as pretender.

nebraska's improved, idk how much but i think they'll beat cu not that that's saying much.

we'll see about michigan - i'm not ready to sell them off, sometimes teams play possum a little bit in week one. tx will have their hands full up there. they certainly looked meh though.

most of the rest is yet to be determined &/or teams looking like what most think they are in terms of uga, tx, ohio st, etc.

Georgia's win over Dabo wasn't as impressive?
I'd take Georgia over USC straight up in the Coliseum for $1000

Yup, even if you think LSU is significantly better than Clemson (and I'm not convinced of that), Georgia has a proven track record of tremendous recent success, while USC and Riley, not so much.

So far I am whelmed.
they played Akron who SP+ ranks as the 133rd team in the nation. There are 134 teams. And the guy struggled with accuracy (like he always does). Not going to really find anything out about him until they start playing real teams. I've been saying for awhile I suspect he's going to be a downgrade as a passer from McCord. But if they go more spread option and run the ball a lot more- then it might wind up being an upgrade because he can do that. If they try to just make him a Ryan Day QB and sit back in the pocket and pass it though? Downgrade. By a lot.

Colin Cowherd being a fucking retard = just a regular day.

Georgia is obviously no question the best team in the country.

they played an LSU team on a neutral site that lost it's entire record setting offense and had one of the very worst defenses in the country last year.

LSU might wind up sucking and that wasn't exactly a tough venue.

colin's bias favors all the west coast teams along w/ the patriots during brady's run. in addition he favors helmets in general. his content is best consumed through that lens.

I'm not sure what game you watched, but most of his throws were right were they needed to be. He only threw a couple of downfield balls and one of them was caught by the Freshman and downed inside the 10.

The only off target balls I saw were pretty much throw aways to avoid a yardage loss.

However, I was perplexed at one play were he was almost tackled but then decided to flip the ball to Treyvon Henderson with a backward pass that Henderson had to fall on. Other than that, I thought he played a pretty good game.
