Mdot, what kind of EV do you drive ?  And what do you hate about charging ?
the Taycan. The battery range is awful on it and when you’re out and about the charging networks just point blank aren’t on par with Tesla’s.

you can get a charge up to 80% in about 15-20 minutes- which is fine- but the problem is finding the chargers and many times waiting for people in front of you to finish charging before you can get a charge. And many of these people will take an hr and charge to 100% instead of just the 15-20 mins to get to 80% and back on the road. Some of the newer stations only allow you to charge to 80% than it shuts down your charge- keeps things moving- wish every station was like that.

Toyota was of course the first to push hybrids in a major way, and it has worked for them, and Honda as well.

I can't tell our hybrid is a hybrid, without looking at the dash.  It's very smooth, the engine cuts on and off again without any noticeable perturbation.  One downside is fuel economy is not great at steady speed over 75 mph.

I have very limited experience driving a hybrid.  The ones I have rented all suffered from the strange engine-revving, seemingly unrelated to anything to do with speed or change of speed, that I read about frequently....so it must be a thing.

A review I read about the new Camrys specifically mentioned the writer did not notice that, which was a good thing.  I'm just skeptical because....all the ones I've driven do randomly rev, and it's off-putting.

The engine revving issue sounds to me like those cars had a CVT, "continuously variable transmission".  They do help with gas mileage but often drive oddly, the engine may rev while not much is really going on.  I wanted to avoid a CVT, so our hybrid has a normal 6 speed transmission.  I also wanted to avoid a DCT, "dual clutch" type.

that new 1,250 hp hybrid corvette is insane. and I have never really been a corvette guy. that is the first one they've ever made that i'd actually want to buy. aside from the 1950s and 1960s ones that is.

I've driven a few, and they didn't allow one to creep along at very low speed.  I was interested in a BMW X1 until I read about its problems with start stop.

Every car has some kind of issue that I dislike, I think, and some are so bad I won't buy one.  The transmission selector buttons in the Tucson I find rather cumbersome.

well, I don't often creep along at very low speed in the vette, but the transmission seems happy and very able ALL the time.
I usually idle from my garage for 3-4 blocks until I get to the edge of town warming up the engine.

I THINK the Equibox EV is decent, just from reading reviews on line.  By "decent" I mean competitive.  There is an SS "performance" version that is interesting as well.

The loss of the $7500 is going to loom as a factor.

NEW YORK (AP) — The fallout from Elon Musk’s plunge into politics a year ago is still hammering his Tesla business as both sales and profits dropped sharply again in the latest quarter.

The car company that has faced boycotts for months said Wednesday that revenue dropped 12% and profits slumped 16% in the three months through June as buyers continued to stay away.

“The perception of Elon Musk, its chief executive, has rubbed the sheen right out of what once was a darling and soaring automotive brand,” wrote Forrester analyst Dipanjan Chatterjee in an email. Tesla is “a toxic brand that is inseparable from its leader.”

Quarterly profits at the electric vehicle, battery and robotics company fell to $1.17 billion, or 33 cents a share, from $1.4 billion, or 40 cents a share. That was the third quarter in a row that profit dropped. On an adjusted basis, the company said it earned 40 cents a share, matching Wall Street estimates.

Revenue fell from $25.5 billion to $22.5 billion in the April through June period, slightly above Wall Street’s forecast.

breaking news….doing business as a small or medium sized guy with gigantic corporations who have access to unlimited money is and always has been a risky proposition.

This is not to excuse scumbaggery behavior from Tesla, just pointing this out is all.

These practices are not much different than what giant developers like Related or Simon do or than the publicly traded home builders like Lennar, Pulte, or DR Horton. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people get hot to trot to do work for them thinking they will be making so much money- only to either basically break even, lose money, or worse get fucked.

You’re better off taking no deal than a bad deal, 100% of the time. And when you do work for them their contract terms are 100% favorable to them and they have every out and clause in the world to back charge or not pay you. And well guess what if you have to go to court with them- they have WAY better lawyers than you do.

Being a vendor to Walmart is much the same.  They have all of the leverage, they dictate terms that are great for themselves and terrible for the product manufacturer, and they are ruthless in their execution.  It's hard to make money dealing with them, but if you don't, then you stand a good chance at sacrificing significant market share.

We have done work for all the big boy developers and the only one we still do work for is Lennar. We've never been stiffed by them in 20+ years - even when the crash happened.
