well, Jan 2021 about the worst of the pandemic.

Jan 2020 or a few months earlier would be a better guage
Politics aside, what a weird freaking year

I see zero reason to ban something that basically doesn't exist except as some kind of PR stunt.

It probably plays well politically I surmise.

Why shouldn't it be banned? Lab meat is not proven to be safe. It's based on the whims of the wokos. It's more expensive. Just eat the real thing. It's better for you.
Because freedom?

If it's more expensive and people perceive it as also being unsafe, the market will sort it out. You won't need to ban it because almost nobody will buy it. And if there are a few wokos who want to buy it as virtue signaling for how woko they are, let 'em. It's a free country.

As far as I can tell the only REAL rationale to ban it is that it'll piss off the wokos. Which, while great fun, isn't a very solid justification for legislation.

I ate tacos and drank tequila to celebrate Mexico's big victory over the French. I'm a real patriot.

Is that your take when vacationing around The Avenue des Champs-Élysées?

plays well on one side
seems to have that side locked down anyway

doesn't play well a tall on the other side
only serves to push that side further away

Confidence in Biden economic decision-making near record low: Gallup | The Hill

This is interesting, to me.  Most REPORTED economic statistics are pretty positive.  And yet Americans by and large don't feel that way.  I know we're not used to inflation at this level, but one can go back a few decades when inflation at 5% was fairly "normal" and we say figures above 10% during the early Reagan era.

I'm not sure I know anyone who isn't better off. Times have been good. I guess my one co-worker who has heart and kidney issues. Thanks Biden.
Ya if you're pulling in north of 6 figures and don't mind $6.00 a dozen eggs and sky rocketing car prices - nothing to do with the dementia patient policies in the White House ::)

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a38748092/new-car-average-sale-prices-47100/
The new average was noted by Kelley Blue Book, which also calculated an amazingly rapid rate of increase for car prices for the past three years. The average price rose just under $1800 in 2019, then just over $3301 in 2020, and then an incredible $6220 in 2021. That's the kind of rate of increase that gets you to new car prices hitting $47,077

And that is the rub.  No one believes our government, assume everything is window dressing, and lies.....and for good reason.

What is the reason?

I personally beliieve the basic economic figures reported as being as accurate as they can be.  Investors by and large depend on them obviously.  Maybe we're all being deluded.

Aww, Cincy.  You can think of a couple reasons, I'm sure of it.

We travel a fair bit of course, and my "eyeballs" tell me the US economy is doing pretty well.  I've lived through some rough recessions, particularly 2008-9 and 1980-1982 and 1974, one could pretty readily notice the downturn in economic activity.  Travel was way off of course.  Business would run unusual specials to drum up business.  And of course a lot of mom and pop operations just went under.

I'm not seeing that today, at all, just the opposite.  Travel especially continues at a high level, higher than "usual" in my observations.

Then there is the stock market, which is influenced by some steely eyed people who usually "sell sell sell" once a downturn is obvious (usually a few months too late).  Maybe all that is a lie?  I doubt it.

Investors are pretty optimistic at the moment.
