Spotted this sticker on the bumper of an 80s Silverado stuck ahead of me in traffic over the weekend. Fitting given the date. Grateful Dead's famed 2 day concert during which their famed live album Saint of Circumstance was recorded.

I mentioned before "we" got onto some Advisory Council with the local symphony, and the one meeting I attended my wife enjoyed, and I did not.  I thought they were seeking "advice", but apparently that isn't the point.  I'm not sure there is a point, but maybe I should try another meeting to see if one shows up.

We have season tickets, which means six concerts a season, about a third overall given.  I will on occasion buy another ticket, and did a couple weeks back, because the program looks good.  Symphonies seem to want to play "innovative" music at times, and it not only doesn't do much for me, I see attendance drop way off when they do this if they don't also have another more popular piece included.  So, my "advice" would be to stick to the masters.

Next season they are doing Beethoven Symphonies 1-8, which should be solid.  I like them all (they did 9 last season).  That probably will help attendance, but with 18 concerts, or so, it's only part of the season.  We just had the last concert on Saturday, the key piece was the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky, which is 20th cenutury, but still "hummable" in parts.  I liked it.

My wife listens to classical all day, often with her ear buds, but she'll put it on the stereo at times also, or the piano upstairs.  She nags me to play more, but when I try, my hands are so weak and my play is so bad, it's hard to keep at it.

I love hair metal but don't come anywhere close to listening to it exclusively.

I listen to pretty much everything.  Country, Rock, classical/symphonic, musicals, pop, and even some older hip hop and rap from the late 80s/early 90s.  I was in marching band, symphonic band, choir, and drama, so I've always enjoyed diversity in my music.

There's good and bad stuff in every genre, but I can typically find something I like no matter the style.

I was in a metal band back in the day. Played guitars, keys, drums and some vocals. It was fun.

Can only play drums now. Arthritis sucks.

I won't say I love their stuff but I saw them perform at COTA during the F1 race a few years back and really enjoyed their live show quite a bit.

Musings for the day.  I think nearly everyone enjoys some sort of music.
Nolan Ryan liked chin music
I use to listen some garage band called The Allman Brothers played at some venue named after Millard Fillmore

I have always liked the early Allman Brothers music.  Those were among my first CD purchases back when CDs cost an arm and a leg.

Their bluesy country rock style struck me as creative.

I was rather amazed again at how loud a full symphony can get at full bore, it's a pretty neat experience, I think.

I played keyboards with some friends back in Jr Hi. We had dreams of being a band, but never went anywhere with it.

Then I started playing football. After a few seasons of broken fingers and other bones in my hands, it seems as though the keys on a keyboard have moved from where I remember them being. :)

I always loved the Allman Bros. Eat a Peach was one of my favorite albums and then bought the CD. I would drop it into the CD player and let it play, front to back. Good times.
