Let's face it, Will Muschamp was 33-19 in Years 1 and 2, 20-6 in Year 2s. IN Year 2, Harbs had the Wolverines looking ready to go. Dan Mullen was 21-5 with someone else's guys. Long way between Year 2 and long-term contentment.
You can't really compare them,Mel walked into slim pickens. He's done wonders this season even if they don't win another game.Muschamp and Harbs walked into solid rosters, and Mullen at least into furtile recruitng fields.Every coach needs at least 3 yrs,but Mel has a leg up on the others so far IMO,time will tell but unless he looses focus i like his chances.
Mullen is the head scratcher here as I thought he had what it takes

A coach at a major program can have the occasional 9-4ish season thrown into the mix, but it's tough to explain where Florida is, or Texas.

“Florida's haggling over what?” Pate said. “Some people are concerned over, what, $12 million? If you want to flex that SEC muscle, flex it when it's time. Don't flex it when Georgia wins the Sugar Bowl and you just chant 'SEC' along with everyone else. No — when it's time to flex the SEC muscle is when you may need to get off that back pocket, that hip pocket where that wallet is supposed to be. Maybe you need to pay a couple extra dollars to rectify a situation that is past needing to be rectified.2021 Coaching Carousel updatesREAD MOREWeek 11's Recruiting Winners & Loses: FSU, Miami headed in different directionsBlake Corum sends message to Michigan fans after injuryKansas RB Devin Neal is the 247Sports True Freshman of the WeekTop247 edge Isaiah Crawford talks commitment to Joey McGuire and Texas TechWhat's next for Auburn at QB after Bo Nix's injury?2021 Coaching Carousel updates

“And I'm not gonna listen to anyone tell me, ‘Well, Florida, the university of can't be competitive in the open market.’ Are you kidding me? If you feel that way, and you are a decision maker, if you're a decision maker at Florida, and you feel the market being too crowded is a deterrent and you can't hang and your job is not of elite caliber, you need to get out of the way and let other people make decisions.
“And for that matter, if you're undecided right now and you're looking at these upcoming games — Missouri and Florida State — and you're saying, ‘Well, let's let the outcomes there decide this,’ you also need to get out of the way. If anyone around Florida is looking at these last two games and saying, ‘I don't know yet whether Mullen is still our guy, but I'll tell you what, I'll know after a game in Columbia, Missouri, or I'll know after a game against Florida State,’ you don't have a proper perspective on how this stuff works. And you need to get out of the way and let someone who has a lot more grip on rationale, make the decision.

“There is nothing you're going to learn over the next two weeks you don't already know about Dan Mullen. Now, if you want to tell me, 'I've seen enough, he's still my guy,' we'll just agree to disagree. But if you look at me, and you say, ''I don't know about it yet, next eight quarters of football will tell the tale,' after however many years next eight quarters of football will tell the tale we're a bounce of a ball or a boink off the upright good change a win to a loss or loss to a win, you don't need to see anymore.”

Mark Richt once said he loved coaching at UGA but if there was one thing he could change, it would be having more control over the boosters. UGA once had a player accept an offer on Twitter, based on a booster, that had never been offered.
