I want to see what you B1G folks think about the 1st part of this article. I mean all of parts 1 and 2, it says essentially the B1G  and the SEC will turn into the AFC and NFC.

Greg Sankey, SEC commissioner and the most powerful man in college football, took to the stage and congratulated Georgia on its national title.

Then added this dig to the rest of college football: “As commissioner of the Southeastern Conference, I think the 4-team Playoff worked out fine this year, didn’t you?”
But how much longer?
No matter what Sankey says publicly – and he’s right, the 4-team setup does benefit the best conference in college football – at some point soon 4 teams will not be enough for the SEC.
That point more than likely arrives when Oklahoma and Texas begin playing in the SEC, which could be any time from this summer to the 2025 season.
But make no mistake, the move of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC wasn’t made in a vacuum. It was made with an eye to the future of college sports and specifically college football.
The sport is changing, and the postseason must change with it. That’s what makes the ACC’s odd stance against Playoff expansion – its decision alone likely tabling the process for 4 years – so counterproductive.
The question is, why?

I think a have-not halting the process makes sense if it's fearful that the 2 most likely outcomes are continuing being a have-not OR something worse.

Right now, if we say their focus is the SEC, they may get 1 ACC team in a 4-team playoff vs 2 from the SEC.  Unequal, but it's the reality.  An expanded, 12-team playoff?  They may still only get 1 ACC team in vs 4 or 5 or 6 SEC teams.  They're then below their current have-not status.  Not optimal for them.

Basically if 2/3 of the potential outcomes don't improve their status, yeah, it makes sense to throw a wrench into it.

I would much rather have the old pre-BCS bowl system and skip everything else.

hah, everyone wants to think the formation of the Big 12 and then the move to the Big Ten killed the Cornhusker dynasty

it was the fall of the pre-BCS and the BCS system that brought down the mighty Huskers

Fearless Frankie Solich never had a chance

It was loosing Texas as a conference opponent IMO. Dr Tom exiting around the same time or removing Solich during a decent run didn't help matters

Doc Tom wouldn't have went to Washington in 2000, he could have saved Solich's job

Devaney saved Osborne a few times in the 70s and 80s as AD
