Yup, fantastic BBQ and Tootsie is a treasure.

They're only open on Saturdays, so you have to drive out and get in line pretty early because they sell out quick.  It's about a 60-mile drive from where I live.  I haven't done it lately, but I'm usually good for a trip out there about once per year.  Really old-school Texas meat market BBQ.  Tons of history and atmosphere.

I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
It looked really good.  My wife wants to rent an RV and roll around Texas eating BBQ.  Not sure the kids would love that as much but we'd like it.

Sitting in my back yard, sipping an Oktoberfest.  Or is it Octoberfest? It was a little muggy today but I can feel the breeze moving that out of here, supposed to drop into the high 50's by morning.  I'll poor out a drop for OSU-Illinois, which was to be tonight. Ordered a crappy pizza for the girls because I'm too sad to cook. But not too sad to drink a couple beers.
It's Oktoberfest. Note that Oktoberfest (the event) starts in late September and concludes very early in October. So if you're having your Oktoberfest party close to Halloween, you're doing it wrong.

As an aside, I always had my Oktoberfest party in very late October. Because nobody knows the difference here, and because late October weather in Southern California is a lot more conducive to the food and beverage choices of Oktoberfest than late September.

Not a day over 95 degrees predicted here in the next 14 days, and there's even one day in that mix with a high in the 70s and a low of 59 degrees.

Good enough to call it Marzen weather here as well.  Think I'll have a Live Oak Oaktoberfest tonight to celebrate!
We had finally broken our heat wave here. Or so I thought.

Supposed to be 105 on both Saturday and Sunday. Ugh.

Yikes, that's pretty unusual for y'all isn't it?

If we make mid-September averaging in the low-mid 90s as currently forecast, then it's highly unlikely we'll see 100 again until next June.

Cold front here, only 102.  Felt good.  Honestly.

It's maybe a bit late, but I don't know that it's all that unusual.

Apparently the average daily high in Sept is 80, which is identical to Aug, both tied for the hottest month. Record high temperature of 108 is September as well.

Denver has a high on Sunday of 99, and then a low on Tuesday of 32, with snow

I think that's fairly universal.  I'd say more often than not, even in Michigan and Pennsylvania it's too warm for that until at least a week in October.

UAB was fortunate that Central Arkansas missed a field goal, then went down and scored a touchdown

We haven't had a 100-degree day yet this summer.  I don't think that we're having a cooler-than-usual summer, it's just that the hottest days are quite as hot as usual.

Phoenix:  50 days of over 110 degrees in 2020.  Previous record was 33 days.

UAB and South Alabama pick up the wins.  I'm going to pick up a half cord of firewood today - it's a crisp morning fall like morning and I'm ready to start fires.
