Alabama beefs up General Manager Courtney Morgan’s contract; will earn over $825k. This was done to stave off pursuit by USC, who was offering upwards of $1M.

I’m familiar with the NFL’s GM model, who’s tasked with hiring coaching staffs and strategizing the drafts, but since when does college football have GMs?! I must’ve missed this, and assume a program GM is a glorified Director of Player Personnel, a position presumably enhanced to oversee the realities of the NIL and recruiting from the Transfer Portal - from CBS Sports:

“But just how close could college football get to an NFL model where front office executives make multi-million dollar salaries? The GM role in the NFL is clearly defined because of the long history of such a job in professional football. Will a GM outlast one head coach and work with a subsequent one? Will a GM in college ever be able to hire and fire a head coach (something that typically defines the reputation of increasingly higher paid athletic directors)?”.

“The GM role in college football is, like many other things in the player personnel space, rapidly evolving. Name Image and Likeness is only three years old, and the upcoming House settlement set to be the next biggest shakeup in the history of college sports isn't even finalized yet.”

Tennessee AD Danny White receives a pay raise to $2.75M - SEC's highest paid:

"White can also earn as much as $600,000 in bonuses annually if the Volunteers hits academic and athletic benchmarks, which it has routinely done during his tenure. His deal has a six-year rolling term, and among his perks is the use of a university plane for 10 one-way flights."

The Vols have done well across most sports of late, pretty much.  I don't know how much is due to any influence by the AD, but he should get some credit.  Their football program seems to be alive and well, the on sport of most import to most folks.

Off the top of my head, I couldn't name the UGA AD.  I'd probably recognize it if I saw it.

Kyle McCord completes 70% of his passes and throws for 354 yards and 4 TD's with an 82 QBR in his Syracuse debut in a 38-22 victory over Ohio, and his coach wants to send Ryan Day a bottle of the bubbly...

had no idea former Miami Dolphin great and NFL HOF'er Jason Taylor's son played for LSU or that he's the defensive line coach at the University of Miami. pretty cool.
