Went Biadasz - was rated as the nation's highest-graded center in 2018 by Pro Football Focus

Went with Ruiz. He has a higher ceiling than (and, at this point, is further along than) David Molk ... who won the Rimington. It'll be a genuine battle for first team All-Big Ten.

I think there's a chance that Ruiz is the best player on the team. Certainly, on offense, he's the most irreplaceable. It's funny. 4-5 years ago, a Michigan offensive lineman being irreplaceable signified a lack of depth. Thankfully, that's been fixed to the point where with Ruiz that just means that the back-up and him is the difference between "maybe All-American" and "maybe All-Big Ten honorable mention."

It's not a controversial statement. If healthy, they'll likely both be Rimington finalists. As far as Big Ten centers go, they share the same tier and have it to themselves.

That's hard. Who do you pick, the guy without any returning starts or even snaps - and use lowest recruiting ranking as a tie breaker? How do you compare that to the worst performer from last year?

In any event, I'd also like to know the candidates.

Banwart is going to be playing guard this year, as he did last year.  Iowa has a redshirt freshman, Tyler Linderbaum, who will likely be the starting center.  He was a 4-star recruit moved over from DL during bowl prep last year.

That would be Tyler Biadasz. Other offers were Western Illinois, Illinois State, Southern Illinois and South Dakota State.

Redshirt freshman Cameron Jurgens from Beatrice, NE is one of the top contenders for the starting center position following the graduation of 2018 seniors Tanner Farmer and Cole Conrad. One of the top Nebraska prep athletes in recent years, Jurgens made the switch from tight end to the offensive line late in the 2018 season.

The 6-3 Jurgens has spent the off-season focused on adding weight through the Nebraska strength program and checks in 285 pounds. Jurgens redshirted in his first season at Nebraska and saw action at tight end in one game.

No it wouldn't be. He's a returning starter. The people I described would have (1) zero starts, (2) perhaps even zero *snaps*, and also have (3) the lowest recruiting ranking.

Please note the part of your post that I highlighted. I know what you described.
