I should point out my last post is incorrect. I was quoting 2017 class numbers, not 5-year. Purdue was 71st in 5-year recruiting, and WMU [not Toledo] was the top MAC school at 73rd in 5-year recruiting.

I would state that Rutgers was the 56th in 5-year recruiting ranking, which was ahead of Illinois and Purdue and in the same range as Indiana and Minnesota. So yeah, that's not exactly a *stellar* addition to the conference in that it's a clear addition of strength, but it's not like they were far behind other low-P5 programs.
IIRC, Fleck had one historic (by MAC standards class in there). Like in the top 40ish

My stats was from the 4 years before Rutgers joined. Not the last 5.

Fair enough. But that actually would cut against the argument to not accept certain programs because of historical lack of success. Because merely moving to the B1G put them in a higher tier.
So if they improved significantly for effectively NO reason other than moving into the B1G, it's hard to hold their previous recruiting problems against them, isn't it? We might as well pick the teams in the best TV markets and then watch them improve just because they've joined us.
