CCG Week scenarios
« on: November 30, 2025, 12:41:10 PM »
The ACC could be shut out completely, scenario:

  • Duke (7-5) +2.5 upsets #18 Virginia (10-2) in Charlotte in the ACCCG.
  • #24 Tulane (10-2) -2.5 beats North Texas in the AACCG.
  • James Madison (11-1) -21.5 beats Troy (8-4) in the Sun Belt CG.
I am fairly certain that both 11-2 Tulane and 12-1 James Madison would be ranked ahead of Duke.

BYU is the potential bid thief:
If #11 BYU (11-1) +12.5 upsets #5 TxTech (11-1) in the B12CG I don't *THINK* that would knock the Red Raiders out so the B12 would become a 2-bid league at the expense of #10 Bama, #9 Notre Dame,  or #8 Oklahoma.

As long as ND is the one left out, I'm all for any crazy scenario.

If they take a second G5 champion over the ACC champion, is Miami still on the table for an at-large?

That would be weird if the ACC champion sits home while the third place team makes the playoffs.

Obviously it is a moot point if Bama wins the SECCG but would the team left out be:
  • #10 Bama (10-3) or
  • #9 Notre Dame (10-2)?

I've already stated that I would put in Texas instead of ND
same with Bama

In theory yes but in practice I don't see a path. I don't think any team is in a position to play their way out.

Does anyone else find it odd that GameDay is going to the SECCG?

In terms of rankings how can they pass on #1 tOSU vs #2 IU?

I can understand an argument that the SECCG is more consequential because the tOSU/IU loser is probably #2 and almost certainly no worse than #4 while Alabama could theoretically miss the CFP altogether if they lose (and BYU upsets TxTech) but if we are going by consequences then they should go to either the B12CG which involves BYU as a potential bid thief or the ACCCG which involves the possibility of the ACC being completely shut out of the CFP.

I don't know their criteria at all, and don't care of course.  Did they do the B1G CG last season?

One is with FOX, and one is with ESPN.

Allegedly, the Conference Champ Game is not supposed to count against you.

They better keep it that way too, or the conferences will really have their tit in the ringer going forward.

ESPN and ABC are both sports-related media companies owned by The Walt Disney Company
Which game will get better TV ratings?
Indianapolis or Atlanta?

At least based on last week's rankings (we'll see if this changes) the SECCG wouldn't have to 'count against' Bama for the Tide to get knocked out.

In last week's rankings Bama was #10 but they were effectively the last team in because only three potential league Champions (tOSU/IU, UGA, TxTech) were ahead of them meaning that two auto-bids were ranked behind them.

Suppose that BYU (#11 last week) knocks off #5 TxTech in the B12CG.  BYU gets an auto-bid and by the very principle that you stated, TxTech's loss shouldn't count against them so they are still in which means that the last team in (#10 Bama) is now the first team out.  Bama could hold their #10 ranking and still fall out.

Channel your inner Animal Farm.

Bama got left out last year, and there is no way in hell that is happening for a 2nd straight year.

hah, so if the Hoosiers upset the Buckeyes, the Buckeyes should still get the #1 seed?
If Georgia loses to Bama they should still get the better seed?

Easy to get yer tit outa the ringer - eliminate the ringer.  Ditch the Conference champ game and leave the $$$ on the table

Disney ain't gonna allow that
