Black Shoes Gold Pants Can't Lose (SOC 10/9/21)

Still very mild in Columbus. The wife is requesting chili, but it doesn't quite feel like chili weather. Plus she's going to work and leaving me with the kids. Trying to offload them onto the neighbors. Have to go buy Halloween outfits this morning, though.

I mean I guess I will, since she asked for it, but I won't be happy about it. Our highs are still in the 80s. Chili is probably perfect when the night time temps hit around 50 and the high is around 65. Not cool enough to turn the heat on, but cool enough that you want something warm.

Having company over for dinner, so will catch the 2nd half of the Badger game with people in my house - who don't care about football. That could be annoying, but we'll see.

I'm making spaghetti and meatballs, and sausage. Garlic bread and grilled asparagus round out the meal. One guest will bring the salad, and the other an appy. Not sure what they are up to, but they know how to cook.

Gotta form up the meatballs soon, and get them in the oven. Equal parts pork, veal and ground sirloin. Bread crumbs, parmesan, egg and fresh parsley is what goes in, and salt and pepper, of course.

Making meatballs is a chore, but it's so worth it. Making the sauce is more fun.

Sounds really good.  Basically the same ingredients in our years old Italian family meatballs.    It is a chore- but what a great payoff.

Yes, for sure.

I got my scale out - 4 oz meatballs is what I like to do. Bake them off with the sausage, and then into the sauce to braise for 4 hours. They come out so tender that way.

No on the anchovies. Biggie Mama would strike me down if I messed with her shit.

Need them for tomorrow anyway, for my Caesar dressing.

Yes.   The traffic in my small “ berg “ is outrageous. Same out in the water - I have to fish at night or dusk.  Publix is a nightmare. 
all I have to do is take the normally 10 minute drive to Publix and see how many people pull out in front of me when I’m going 35 or 40, and I see the New York or New Jersey plates pretty much every time.  😬

Mornin' all not a bad slate at all today,Cindy picked up some home made potato(boiled red potatoes) and cheese pierogi from a Polish Catholic Church fundraiser type thing .I picked up some Kielbasa from the butcher.Boiling the pierogi when done into a pan and saute' with butter & onion.Sausage will be grilled then sliced in,still have almost a case of various Oktoberfests also,Ate salads all week so this shouldn't hurt

Yeah, that's one of the drawbacks over there. We don't see a lot of NY/NJ plates. We see mostly MW and Canada.


Sounds good, Mr. N. Haven't found a good place for Polish deli stuff yet. Plenty of Italian and German though.
