I appreciate the modesty of ranking the Buckeyes ahead of the Wolverines.  I suppose you could make that case based on “ resume.”

But if you just go by the eye test- it’s not all that close-Michigan is better.

It’s not a disappointment to say that- They are better than any team I have watched- IMHO

I still think the only team that can beat them, is them. ( if they lay an egg somewhere along the line)

it will be interesting to see if Michigan doesn't look as dominant w/o someone relaying opponent signals to the playcallers

  • Michigan - Bye week. They get Purdue this week so we will still not know much about them.
  • Ohio State - Going into Camp Randall is always scary for the Buckeyes. But they handled it and came away with a good win.
  • Penn State - For a while it looked like they were going to let tOSU beat them twice.
  • Iowa - Bye week
  • Wisconsin - Played tough at home.
  • Rutgers - Bye week
  • Minnesota - Beat a poor MSU team as they should.
  • Nebraska - Gotta move them up after beating Maryland.
  • Illinois - Bye week.
  • Maryland - The wheels are falling off after a good start to the season. November must be close.
  • Northwestern - Still mathematically in contention for the West.
  • Indiana - Hung tough at PSU.
  • Purdue - Not very good.
  • Michigan State - It looks like a team without a purpose.

They have the talent this year.  They are loaded with NFL caliber guys on both sides of the ball.

There is no doubt in my mind they will continue to dominate opponents.

They are very talented and a great team

but, it's easier to dominate when that talent is pointed in the right direction

Michigan is a very veteran, talented, and deep team.

At the end of the day it has ALWAYS been and ALWAYS will be all about the Jimmy's and the Joe's. Not the X's and the O's. You can have the best X's and O's strategist in the world- if your players fcking suck....well you're going to fcking suck.

Michigan is a very experienced team that is also loaded right now with future NFL draft picks. Usually the team with the most of those tends to win the most...

QB - JJ is a future NFL draft pick. Potentially 1st rd.
RB - Blake Corum & Donovan Edwards. Future NFL draft picks.
WR - Roman Wilson- playing himself into NFL draft pick + will run 4.3 at combine
TE - Colston Loveland & AJ Barner - both looking like NFL draft picks- especially Loveland
OL - Zak Zinter, Trevor Keegan, Karsen Barnhart, LaDarius Henderson, and Drake Nugent - could all be drafted. Zinter and Keegan will both be drafted fairly high.
DT - Kris Jenkins, Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant - all going to be round 1-2 NFL draft picks
LB - Junior Colson & Ernest Hausmann - both going to be NFL draft picks- and probably fairly high
EDGE - All four of them are future NFL draft picks- Jaylen Harrell, Braiden McGregor, Derrick Moore, and Josiah Stewart
CB - Will Johnson = future top 10 pick, Mike Sainistril = future NFL draft pick nickel
S - Rod Moore & Makari Paige = future NFL draft picks. RS Frosh Keon Sabb already looking like a....future NFL draft pick

Michigan should have 12-15 players drafted in 2023. That's a shit ton. And they possibly could have even more then that. Wouldn't surprise me to see 2-4 of those in the 1st rd. JJ + Donovan have the physical traits/talent/tools NFL teams look for at their positions and JJ has been climbing with his play and Edwards has very little wear and tear on his body in terms of volume of carries and is an absolute freak with elite receiving skills. Zak Zinter and Kris Jenkins will both make serious push for the 1st rd as well.

so, the 30+ point spread won't be a problem?

I can't do rankings yet until I get some injury status.

For UW alone, they are without QB1 for the season, RB1A for the season, about 4 TE's, and now RB1A and WR1A.

I look at other teams too.

Until that stuff comes out, it's not possible to rank teams except those 3 on top, who have minimal injuries but have 4-5* backups.

Maryland - The wheels are falling off after a good start to the season. November must be close.
The "September Maryland" thing is astounding really.

At the end of September the Terps were 5-0 and although they were not ranked, they were first in "ORV" and only nine votes behind #25 Louisville.

Then, in their first October game an early third-quarter TD gave them a 17-10 lead on the road over the #4 team in the nation.  From that point in the game against tOSU:
  • tOSU TD drive, 17-17
  • UMD INT
  • tOSU FG, 20-17
  • UMD Punt
  • tOSU TD, 27-17
  • UMD Punt
  • tOSU TD, 34-17
  • UMD Punt
  • tOSU FG, 37-17
  • UMD Punt
  • tOSU kneel-down to end the game, 37-17 Buckeyes.
Seriously, the calendar flipped from September Maryland to October Maryland with UMD's third-quarter TD in the 'Shoe.  From that point forward:
  • tOSU outscored them 27-0
  • They lost at home to Illinois 27-24.  That remains Illinois' only league win so far this year.
  • They lost in Evanston 33-27, the Cats are 2-3.

They still have games against PSU and M remaining.  Those are at home which is probably a bad thing because the trade-off is that the other two games (UNL and RU) are on the road.  Realistically, the Terps would probably lose to the Nittany Lions and Wolverines no matter where those games were played but HFA might actually matter in the UNL and RU games.
