Big Ten Power Rankings After Week 12
« on: November 19, 2023, 09:09:30 AM »
1.  Ohio St - OSU and Mich kind of switched roles this week as OSU is now the team totally dominating and Michigan was struggling a little but still won.

2 Michigan - Now it's finally time to settle this on the field.

3.  Penn St -  the only team easy to rank.  Clearly better than #4.

4.  Iowa - rarely blows a team out,  but always finds a way to score that 1 score needed to win the game. Iowa has given up an average of 9 points a game in last 7 games.

5. NW -  I was almost tempted to rank NW above Iowa because NW has looked better the last 2 weeks,  but it's hard to ignore that Iowa  beat NW 10-7.

6.  Rutgers -  not the strongest finish but a decent team.

7.  MD - Looking respectable again after a rough mid-season slump

8.  ILL. - John Paddock can't pull off another miracle comeback

9.  Purdue
10.  MSU
11.  Minn
12. Wisc
13.  Neb
14.  IND

1) Michigan if the Terps didn't self destruct so much UM simply steps on the gas
2)Buckeyes looked decent in the 2nd half. They'll need to play like that to come out on top next Saturday
3)PSU the Fighting Franklin's are rung below the aforementioned
4)Hawkeyes - they eeked out another win yesterday that has to count when others can't
5)Wildcats - get better almost every week and could go bowling
6)Illini - lost a tough game to Iowa, they have looked decent winning 3 of the last 5
7)Rutgers
8)Terps
9)UW
10)Gophs
11)'Skers
12)Sparty
13)Boilers
14)Hoosiers

Last week in parenthesis

  • OHIO STATE (1) - defense continues to roll
  • MICHIGAN (2) - running game still solid, but back to back games where McCarthy was very underwhelming
  • PENN STATE (3) - defense continues to look plenty good against inferior opponents
  • IOWA (4) - god 15-13 is such an Iowa score
  • RUTGERS (5) - another valiant 30 minute effort against a top team, but not enough late
  • MARYLAND (6) - dug themselves too deep of a hole
  • WISCONSIN (8) - didn't expect that game to be for bowl eligibility
  • NORTHWESTERN (10) - an extremely well deserved permanent coaching hire
  • ILLINOIS (7) - didn't expect them to be the team needing a win in the Tomahawk game
  • MINNESOTA (9) - is Fleck's seat warm if they miss a bowl?
  • MICHIGAN STATE (14) - OSU game aside, the defense looked much improved down the stretch
  • NEBRASKA (11) - maybe started celebrating bowl eligibility too soon
  • PURDUE (12) - 5th time in 6 games they failed to break 15 points
  • INDIANA (13) - played with some additional fire over the past month, but that still has only resulted in 1 win
