I think we all understand there are two conferences now, that are "real", and two more than might have a team or two that is real on occasion.

It's disappointing, but such is life.

Most of the "news" from the SEC MD was about who said something about FSU and Clemson.    Boring.  I don't care.

I think allowing some media exposure for three players is not a terrible thing, usually.

F Notre Dame
I want ND in the playoff if they're good enough.

Interestingly, of course, or not, if ND is "The Best Team" some year, they'd be a 5 seed, which we've discussed COULD be an advantage over a 4 seed (or not).

Is the one seed a large enough advantage?  In some year when ND is clearly a powerhouse, the 1 seed gets them first, hoping they are tired.

I think they should make the playoffs every single year.

The FCS playoffs.

Notre Dame would be a great fit in the Big Ten.  ND has huge fan base, they're local, they have big media money, great football tradition, high end academics, AAU member, rivals within the Big Ten...all make ND a perfect fit.  Having said that, I'd like to see them request membership only to have Michigan black ball them again.

I don't care if they ever join a conference or not. I don't think every team needs to be in a conference, I don't think all conferences need to look the same, and I don't think a playoff needs all conferences to look the same.

I don't want any more insufferable arrogance in the conference. We have enough, and that was before Oregon and USC showed up.

I look for them to make some arrangement with the ACC where they effectively join for football but with special status on TV revenue.  Then they get to play in the ACC CG.

Face it, if you want to win a conference championship, would you prefer to be in the ACC or B1G?  Just the pure numbers militate for the former.

The ACC also is a good academic fit, to the extent that is relevant to anything, and they have some history there already.

With Dook, Miami, Pitt, UNC, UVA, GT, Cal and Stanford, sure. Those are not like the others.

The ACC schools often are very good undergraduate with less than elite graduate programs, like Notre Dame.  Wake Forest and Syracuse and BC have a solid undergraduate program.  FSU and Clemson are pretty decent.  NS State is OK.  They don't really have a weak university academically I think, Laville I guess.

I forget who all is in the ACC.

Kind of interesting, to me.

SU Chancellor Nancy Cantor said new membership criteria gave more weight to universities with medical complexes and large science and engineering departments. SU’s “undisputed pre-eminence,” she said, lies in areas such as architecture, public affairs and information studies.
