VIDEO https://youtu.be/jzdvkq7gUjU?si=6iBHHPcx-F_QFp9c Well, here we are. Season 19 (!) of this crazy prediction game. For those of you just tuning in, here are the ruled-out rules you need to know:
1. Each week during the college football season, I will ask you to predict the final value of a measured statistic during a Big Ten conference football game.
2. You guess what you think the final value of that statistic will be at the end of the game.
3. The person who guess closest to the correct value wins the week.
4. The lowest overall score at the end of the season is the Resident Genius.
That simple.
Scoring goes as follows:
- The guesses well be sorted into order based on the absolute difference between the guess and the actual value. *
*I reserve the right to ask a question where direction matters, but this will be specified at the time of asking. Absolute value is the default unless and until specifically called out otherwise
- Points are awarded based on the ordinal rank of each entry. Example: 3rd place gets 3 points, 4th gets 4, etc.
-Outright winners of each week will receive a score of -5.
- Ties are scored by giving all involved in the tie the lowest ordinal value of the tie entries. Example: a 3 way tie for 4th sees all tied entries getting a score of 4. The next entry in order will get 6 points. If there is a tie for the win, all involved in the tie get a score of 1.
- Please call out any tabulation errors. I'm pretty decent at using a slide rule, sundial, and an abacus, but mistakes happen.
- All rule interpretation questions are decided by me.
- All decisions are final.
Now that we've disposed of the prelims, let's get down to business. We start at the Shoe in Columbus. The Texas Longhorns come to town on the 20th anniversary of the last Longhorn visit. Both the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns have MNC ambitions, and the offensive output of Texas QB Arch Manning could be all the difference.
Q: How many all-purpose yards (rush, pass, rec, return) will Texas QB Arch Manning have vs. Ohio State?
Deadline is Saturday, August 30 at 11 AM CDT. Good hunting.
