Big Ten East v West
« on: October 30, 2020, 08:35:58 PM »
Last year the East won the crossover battle against the West fairly decidedly.  This year the East is off to an early 2-1 lead.  There's only one crossover game this week, but MD is currently beating Minnesota 21-14.  Time to chant 'Big Ten East' to the tune of S-E-C.

In all seriousness, it's looking like the East may be a bit stronger again this year.  We will also get the chance for a final showdown between divisions at the end of the year.

The Championship weekend being seven games instead of one is interesting.

Might have been a bit premature.

Hard to say only two weeks in. A healthy Wisconsin will help even things up.
A decade of Victory over Penn State.

All in since 1969

I would double check that if I was you.  people seem to make this mistake all the time.

In reality, every year since the East-west divisions were formed in 2014, except for 1 year 2017,  the 2 divisions have always finished within 2 games of each other in cross-division records, and that includes counting the CCG.

Including 2019.  The 2 divisions finished within 1 game of each other in the regular season.  If you include the conference championship game,  then the East won by 2 games.    Look it up.

And, the West always loses the championship game, which can be the rubber match that tips the scales to the East.
This year it looks like the West will win the regular season, but lose the championship game, again.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's 2020.

Assuming UW/tOSU land there I dunno we've seen Mertz go on a tear.Things are different not sure about tOSU's pass rush will be effective or if Mertz can stay that sharp. Will Mertz be consistently good in the pocket? How good will both teams ground games be this year? Both have decent backs but no 1st rounders that I've yet to see.Two squads that traditionally grind it out on the ground go up top.Hard to judge defenses with little to go on but right now Wisconsin sits at No 1 Nationally and tOSU at 34th.So alot of script flipping and uncertainties would make for a close contest IMO

If anyone else happened to see urban’s breakdown of the Indiana versus Ohio State matchup, then you know how highly he thinks of Indiana and that this will be a dogfight this weekend.

Everyone marvels at Indiana skill players, and rightly so, but he showed great video examples of just how good their office of an defense of lines are right now.

Urban also spoke glowingly about both Wisconsin and Florida and called them both playoff caliber teams.
