I'm still in not looking at what I had last week mode, because it's too early in the season to care.
1) Ohio State: losing on the road, by one point, to a top-5 team hardly shows big chinks in the armor. Was it a bit of a collapse? Yes. Does it rule anything out for the Buckeyes, no.
2) Indiana: but they haven't played anyone yet.
3) USC: nothing that looks bad, but nothing that looks great, either.
4) Penn State: need to play a decent team.
5) Iowa: because, Iowa.
6) UCLA: has beaten two decent-ish teams.
7) Michigan: what to do with a 1-1 team that just upset #11 Oklahoma at home? Defense looks great. Offense does not. Lost to Western Michigan just a week ago. Always has great athletes.
8) Washington? I guess. Wins are good.
9) Nebraska: also winning. But this is tepid.
10) Illinois: what happened? I know Duke was decent last year, but they aren't a world beater. Illinois should win that game.
11) Oregon: cue Nelson from the Simpsons. But they are will likely to beat everyone below here.
12) Maryland: because it's September
13) Michigan State: wins.
14) Minnesota: losing to a decent SEC team hurts. Losing badly, at home, hurts even more. Good weekend for SFGopher to spend near Duluth.
15) Wisconsin: looked mediocre in a game against Western Illinois. Sure, they won by 27;
Illinois St. beat W. IL by
31 the week before.
16) Northwestern: why not.
