Big Ren 2026 Power Rankings Before Week 3
« on: Today at 08:10:23 AM »
Oh boy not a good week for the Big Ten.  A lot to sort out from some surprising results from week 2.  Is it time to blow up your rankings or just ignore everything?

My Power Rankings are in a post below.  What does everybody else think?

In an unprecedented move so early in the season, I am blowing up my power rankings.  I have seen enough.  Of course these rankings will all be completely different by mid-October.

1.  Indiana - Blows out Howard.  Curt Cignetti seems to be the only guy who has this whole NIL porral era figured out.

2.  Ohio St - blows 20-Point lead in 4Q in loss at Texas.  OSU looked like the #1 team for 3Q.  What happened?  But its hard to punish a team for a 1-point loss at Texas

3.  UCLA -  solid victories over Cal and SDSU

4.  USC - 3 victories over G6 teams in non-conference.   USC should have played Notre Dame instead.

5.  Penn St - solid win over Temple in Philly.  PSU has not looked great yet but has been good enough

6.  Michigan -  great defense in narrow win over Oklahoma at Michigan.  Huh, defense (and Hail Mary's with 1 extra second on the clock) may be good enough for Michigan to win games this year.

7. Iowa - did not look great in narrow win over Iowa St in Iowa City.  But Iowa found a way to pull out game in 4Q.

8.  Maryland - September Maryland looking good with solid win at UConn.  Of course MD automatically will fall to #17 on Oct 1.

9.  Nebraska - blows out Bowling Green.  Should have played somebody better in non-conference this year.

10.  Washington -  close win at home over Utah St .  Wash is 2-0 but not looking good in early games

11.  Illinois -  loses close game at home to Duke.  Well, Duke did win the ACC last year.

12.  Oregon-  loses at Oklahoma St to a team that just lost to Tulsa. Oregon barely beat Boise St the week before.    Could Oregon be this year's Penn St?

13.  Northwestern - they must have had the week off.  NW hosts Colorado in week 3.  A game not good enough for their new stadium I guess.

14.  Purdue - loses in 2OT at home to Wake Forest.  Maybe Purdue is not so bad this year?

15.  Mich St - solid winat home over EMU.  MSU might be better than this but they will have to earn it by beating somebody decent.

16.  Wisconsin - solid win at home over FCS WIU

17.  Minnesota - 25-point loss at home to Miss St.  Minn should have stuck to thei normal cupcake  non-conference schedule.

18. Rutgers - close loss at BC.  But they still lost to UMass the week before.
We are all equal but some are more equal than others.

As I mentioned above.  Not a great week #2 for the Big Ten

0-3 vs ACC
1-2 vs SEC
1-1 vs Big 12

2-6 vs P4
7-0 vs G6
2-0 vs FCS

11--6 overall

No conference games in week 2
NW had the week off.
