While OSU's season has mercifully come to an end, their Rutgers-like losing streak remains quite intact.

Quite the decline over the past couple of years...

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with its eighth win a row, defeating Maryland 25-13, 25-10, 25-18 in front of a crowd of 8,139 on Senior Night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday.

The sixth-ranked Huskers finished the regular season at 24-6 overall and 15-5 in the Big Ten, which will earn them a tie for third in the conference standings.

Up Next: The NCAA Tournament Selection Show will take place on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU. Should the Huskers be selected as one of the top 16 seeds, they would host the first and seconds rounds next weekend at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. There are no tickets available for the potential first and second rounds in Lincoln, but if there are any visiting team ticket returns, they would go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Bracket

https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/volleyball-women/d1/2018

A bunch of Big Ten teams made it of course.

Dayton and Cincinnati are in, so I will pull for them until they are eliminated, which should be the first or second round.

UCF and FGCU are playing each other in round one and each team has a player that played for my HS, so I'll pull for the winner of that game, which probably won't get much farther.

I will also pull for the Midshipmen because A) they are playing Michigan, and B) they are coached by Sgt Paco who turned Wittenberg (OH) into a D3 powerhouse over the last decade and a half.

The top seeds.  Regionals will be hosted by top remaining seeds.  No top 4 has yet to 'not host' the regionals since they went to this format (year 3).  However, the last two National Champions have won on the road in the Regionals (Stanford at Wisconsin in '16, and Nebraska at Kentucky in '17).  FF at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

1. Stanford
2. Minnesota
3. Illinois
4. BYU
5. Texas
6. Wisconsin
7. Nebraska
8. Penn State
9. Creighton
10. Kentucky
11. Southern California
12. Pittsburgh
13. UCF
14. Marquette
15. Oregon
16. Washington State

It's always a tough draw to a FF for anybody all the time (unless you're Penn St/Texas).  ;)   I will say there's a ton of familiarity in that bracket.   Nebraska has played nearly every team with a pulse in the bracket at least once in the past 12 months. (Purdue 2x, Minn 2x, Oregon, Kentucky, Colorado).   Mizzou is familiar in name only at this point.  Haven't faced Arizona though since 2002? I see Hofstra has a monster MB who hits .400+,  nice test for Stivrins/Schwarzenbach.

It will be interesting to see how good BYU really is without their stud player.   I could easily see Texas having the easiest path to the final 4.  Both Stanford and Minn seem to have tougher regions... at least on paper.

FGCU getting some inspiration from what their hoops team did a few years ago, upsetting UCF in 5 tonight.  You don't see a seeded team lose very often in the 1st round.   They definitely catch a break being able to play Florida on Friday at UCF's gym.   Hawaii and Baylor going to a 5th now too.

Hofstra with a U.N. sponsored roster.  At least 12 International born players on the roster.  Funny note, their Head Coach is making her third trip to the NCAA Tournament.  She played at Iona, and faced Nebraska in the 1st round, and has now taken Hofstra to the tournament twice (2014, 19) and her team's had to face Nebraska both times.
