Good

1. Michigan (+1) - Strong Win even with "Bush League" and "B.S."

2. Wisconsin (+1) - 357 Rushing Yards, Sounds like Wisconsin.

3. Iowa (+2) - Blanked Maryland

4. Ohio State (-3) - How does this 1 dimensional team, without a Defense, win another game?

5. Penn State (-1) - Looks beatable

Not Good

6. Michigan State (--) - Everyone below them ('cept Purdue) looks worse.

7. Maryland (--) - getting blanked, looks bad

8. Purdue (+3) - Super Bowl Champs. Tyler Trent Strong!

9. Northwestern (-1) - Beating Rutgers by 3 is like a loss in my book

Bad

10. Indiana (--) - looked tough in loss

11. Nebraska (+1) - 1st win! Gatorade Bath Time.

12. Minnesota (-3) - Rowing Backwards

13. Illinois (--) - am I too hard on the 'Noise?

14. Rutgers (--) - Even with how poor OSU plays this team sucks more.

1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Iowa
4. Wisconsin
5. Penn State?
6. Purdue?
7. Michigan State?
8. Northwestern?
9. Indiana?
10. Maryland?
11. Illinois
12. Nebraska
13. Minnesota
14. Rutgers

As it turns out, the Big Ten is about as good as the SEC.

Today's results almost assure South Bend is in.

What the hell, I feel like I was given permission to have some fun with the power rankings this week.  So let's have some fun!

1. Mich
The new clear #1.

2. Iowa
Looking good since the bye week despite some injuries on defense.

3.  Wisc
Not much on resume except victory at Iowa.

4.  Purdue
Dominating the last couple of weeks.  This is not as much of stretch for me as you may think, since they have been moving up my list every week since they upset BC.

5.  OSU
the wins over Rutgers, PSU, and Minn are not so impressive now,  then they go out and lay a big fat egg at Purdue.

6. NW
Whether they are playing Mich, or Rutgers the game is going to be close.  Somehow I got this sneaking suspicion that NW might snatch a division title this year flying under the radar.

7. MSU
Lost to NW, beat PSU.  #7 seems about right.

8.  PSU
Other than a blowout of Pitt, and some close losses at home to OSU, MSU,  they have not done anything that says they deserve a high ranking.

9.  MD
They really did not show up against Iowa.

10.  Indy
A couple of spots behind PSU sounds about right

11.  Neb
Ok, maybe they are not the worst team in the conference.  Congrats on first win.

12.  Minn
Row, Row, Row hey your boat is sinking!

13.  ILL
Chance to move up is coming up.

14.  Rut
Now there is no doubt.  Worst team in the conference.  Don't let the close loss to NW give you false hope.

1. Michigan: Run the ball and play defense and you can win a lot of games
2. Iowa: Run the ball and play defense and you can win a lot of games
3. Wisconsin: Run the ball and win some games
4. Ohio State: Uh, just drop back and chuck it?
5. Penn State: Have your quarterback wing it
6. Purdue: Play some coherent offense
7. Michigan State: Don't run and don't pass
8. Northwestern: Roll the dice and see what offense shakes out
9. Nebraska: Running the ball, learning the defense
10. Indiana: Just try to play some defense
11. Minnesota: Giving Nebraska their first win is Minnesota nice
12. Maryland: Maryland is either good or bad, no in between
13. Illinois: Would Lovie to see some improvement
14. Rutgers: Competitive!

There are a lot of goofy low rankings for OSU. So this will be the least meaningful rank of their season by far. That pass O is the best we've seen around here for some time. It's just that they're more of a chaos team than is normal. Incredibly high ceiling still. Not having Coombs could be the most durable challenge (the one least likely to turn around). On the other hand, I really do expect OSU to turn around its run offense. There's no obvious reason to not be great there.

I'm kinda' bummed about football.  Just like Michigan, Iowa beat the Terps worse than the score indicated.  It was no contest.  I guess we're not ready for B1G football yet after all...

2. Ohio State
3. Iowa
4. Michigan State
5. Penn State
6. Wisconsin
7. Indiana
8. Purdue

My rating is more based on the defense than the offense. The 3 teams I have above them I would pick to beat them on a neutral field, next weekend.

Lots of trouble ranking this week. Hard for me to balance overall results with how good I feel teams are and this is kind of a mish mash. Might have to rethink more next week.

 1. (1) Michigan: Zero question they deserve to be here now. Have beat good teams at home and on road. Finally got the Michigan State monkey off their back.
 2. (5) Wisconsin: Think this is higher than they will end up, but the win over Iowa matters a lot still, especially on the road.
 3. (6) Iowa: Playing lights out.
 4. (2) Ohio State: Running game not working at all. Only reason higher than Purdue for right now was Purdue's horrible start. Things keep looking like last night and will drop down more.
 5. (3) Michigan State: Lost a rivalry game, but lots of talent here.
 6. (9) Purdue: Still have to knock them somewhat for earlier losses, but they were all close. Good argument for putting them higher now, but going to wait another week or two.
 7. (4) Penn State: Indiana game got close at end, but ended the 2 game losing streak.
 8. (7) Northwestern: Kind of the opposite of Purdue. I don't think this is a great team this year, but Big Ten wins help resume enough I don't like putting any further down.
 9. (11) Nebraska: Finally got the win. Think will continue to look up rest of the year.
 10. (8) Maryland: More issues than I thought this team had early.
 11. (12) Indiana: Couldn't quite finish it, but good late comeback vs. Penn State.
 12. (10) Minnesota: Hard giving Nebraska first win of year like that at this point in season.
 13. (13) Illinois: Seems likely to stay around here.
 14. (14) Rutgers: Almost had it.
