B1G Divisional races after week 6
« on: October 11, 2022, 03:36:59 PM »
No change in the East other than the big three creating more separation because they went 2-0 against the bottom four this past weekend and the other two bottom-four teams also lost.

As previously, the three games to decide it are:

  • Penn State at Michigan this weekend
  • Ohio State at Penn State Halloween weekend
  • Michigan at Ohio State Thanksgiving weekend

The West is wide open. Minnesota is right in the middle at .500 and they are only 1/2 game behind a three-way tie for first and 1/2 game ahead of a three-way tie for last.

As usual, the West beats itself up all year and then loses in the CCG due to exhaustion....

Is that what we're calling it?

Typically when the B1G West race resembles a game of hot potato it's Northwestern that winds up atop the scrap heap at seasons end, but this just doesn't seem to be their year.

I'm already exhausted

I'm sure the football program in Lincoln feels this way
"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."

With Iowa and Northwestern off and IL/MN and PU/UNL playing each other, here are the standings in the B1G-W after this weekend:

  • 3-1 PU/UNL winner
  • 3-1 IL if they beat MN
  • 2-1 MN if they beat IL
  • 2-2 PU/UNL loser
  • 2-2 IL if the lose to MN
  • 2-2 UW if they beat MSU
  • 1-2 MN if they lose to IL
  • 1-2 Iowa
  • 1-2 Northwestern
  • 1-3 UW if they lose to MSU

Did anybody see that article that US Bank stadium in Minnesota is pushing the idea to host the Big Ten football  championship game.  I guess if this is ever going to happen, they better do it before the Bears build their new indoor stadium in Arlington Hts.

Of course, if it ever happens, Purdue and Indiana will probably make the CCG that year.

Yeah, when LA gets one it will be on one of those years when it's like Northwestern and Michigan State, or some such.

it'll be a few years before the bear's stadium is ready

and US Bank is a helluva venue regardless what they scrape together in Chitown

and US Bank is right downtown in a helluva location

of course downtown Chicago isn't worthy of much of anything these daze and seems to be getting worse
