FWIW, Hondo, a local reporter who is a bit of a joke,  (he was the one who got the pub at Media Days) was saying this week that someone other than Lombardi would be punting, but he wouldn't say.  Nobody took him fully seriously, but there's an in state punter, who was on scholarship at the FCS level, went to Illinois  as a preferred walk on, but quit who now changed his Twitter profile to MSU Class of '21.

How internet sleuths find this stuff, I'll never know.

Sounds like 4* true freshman TE Trenton Gillson is dressed for the first time all year.  TEs have been invisible this year, so maybe then coaches used the off week to get the true freshman up to speed.

So basically we learned that the weaknesses aren't getting fixed, but we learned it in a win.  Tough to see this team beating OSU, PSU or UM.  Goal has to be to win the rest, go 8-4, maybe go to Tampa.

At some point Lombardi stopped punting. Did it switch to this kid or someone else?

No, it was two other walk ons.  None of them were any good.

Don't worry. Harbaugh will do his absolute best to make sure that game is close. Instead of spreading it out 4 wide and rolling the pocket to protect Patterson- I'm sure he'll keep calling the offense like it's 1985. Patterson can really throw it. They have receiving talent everywhere. Instead of trying to stress the MSU D and go with pace and spread them out 4 wide and use Gentry in the slot, Harbaugh will call a game that plays right into their strengths and make sure there is a FB and two TE's in every play and then run the same play out of 40 different formations trying to be cute. Wish he would just hire an OC and stay the F away from the offense.
