Man, that was a REALLY bad loss.  The ags were just pitiful this year.  They struggled against UMass.  Oof.

It really was.  Especially considering they had to know they'd likely be in the Sugar Bowl for a NY6 game if they take care of business, even with a loss to UGA in the CG.

A&M is deeper and more talented than us right now, and were preseason darlings for a reason, and since there was not an obvious reason for their struggles I figured they could put a game together at any time....just hate that it was us.  Taking nothing away from their superior depth and talent, we still played the most listless, uninspired football I've seen in a long time, and I think we still could've beaten them if we'd brought the right attitude.

Hopefully there's a lesson learned there.  And hopefully the beatdown in the SECCG was good experience on a big stage.  Sucks, but you always hope the young guys coming back will benefit from experiences like that.

LSU had a weird year indeed, they edged Alabama, great, got hammered at home by Tenn, beat the Miss teams, good, lost to FSU by a missed PAT, then lost to A&M while winning the SEC W.  Got down 35-7 to UGA and made a comback to make it look more even.

It has been reported that Purdue O-Coordinator Brian Brohm is leaving Purdue to join his brother at Louisville. I thought he would be the top candidate for head coach at Purdue, especially after being name interim head coach. He is sticking around for Purdue's bowl game.

Lots of things happening fast at Purdue right now.

Insiders say Brian Brohm has been trying to convince Purdue AD Bobinski to hire Jim Leonhard at HC, keep Brian Brohm as OC, and retain Mark Hagen as DC.  Very strange.  It's reported that Brian was not in the Brohm family decision making circle (the inner circle is Jeff, Greg, Oscar and Brady...wtf!).  Apparently Brian may be wanting to go off on his own here, even though Jeff has already named him part of the Louisville staff.

Bobinski is not convinced though.  He is viewing this as an opportunity to make a statement.  Todd Monken (Georgia OC) and Kalen DeBoer (Washington HC) are supposedly at the top of the list now.  Bobinski plans to wrap this up ASAP.

Purdue DC Mark Hagen wants to stay at Purdue, even though Jeff Brohm made a strong attempt to bring him to Louisville.  Retaining Hagen is critical for Purdue.  He is their best defensive recruiter.  He is the reason Purdue's DL made major improvements, and had excellent 2 deep depth.  Also literally the top 5 rated players in Purdue's 2023 recruiting class are all DL, and were recruited by Hagen.

Purdue football could prioritize Todd Monken in head coaching search (dawgnation.com)

I figure Monken will be headed out, if not this year, then soon.  I think he's a pretty good OC, usually.

that would be really smart move to make and especially if it was made fast. Most AD's are not that smart however.

Jim Leonhard at HC could be a great hire

Purdue had a last minute candidate jump in.  Rumor is Kliff Kingsbury.  I'm not sold on Kliff.  His resume from Texas Tech is not impressive, and that was with Patrick Mahomes.  He seemed to have Arizona rolling, but then completely collapsed.

Looks like Kalen DeBoer is staying in Washington.  His buy out is $10M+, which Purdue was going to pay.  Shows how serious this admin has gotten toward football.

I'm hearing Chris Kleiman is on the short list.

Tyson Helton (Western Kentucky) is also on the short list.

Edge rusher BJ Ojulari declared for the draft.  Not a big surprise.  No word yet on if he's planning to play in the bowl game.

Corey Trice to sit out the bowl game for Purdue.  That's a pretty big hit to the defense.

It's also a chance for his replacement to get useful PT, which could be more important than a bowl win.

I'm hearing the Purdue coaching search is down to Shane Beamer (South Carolina HC) and Ryan Walters (Illinois DC).  Waiting to see if USCe can match Purdue.  Of course, there is always the possibility Beamer is using this to leverage a pay raise.

They are also trying to get Jamarcus Sheppard on board as OC, and retain Mark Hagen.

Sheppard is also a fall back option as HC.  Along with Tyson Helton (Western Kentucky HC).

I hope they pluck Walters

Bert don't need to have that good of a defense in the west
