We all know to downgrade G5 QB stats on teams who pass 60% of the time.  What does NFL production have to do with it?  You can have a truly great player on a shit-run NFL team and he'll suck.  It's such a crap shoot.  You're going to rate college players by some having a lucky alignment of competent front office + good line play + an OC they can work with?!?

Good luck with that.

So you must REALLY hate how Heisman voters go with the 'best' player on the best team.  Okay.
I'm not wading into the TT/VY debate, because I don't care.

But yes, I really do hate this.

To me, it's about as smart as blindly ranking teams by number of losses.

So much of Heisman voting is so devoid of actual analysis because they basically limit it to QBs on nearly undefeated teams.

If it was truly the "most outstanding player" in the entire sport, how is it almost ALWAYS a QB on one of the handful of top-ranked teams. How is it that defense is half the players on the field and a pure defensive player hasn't won in almost 30 years? (And he wasn't even a true "pure" defensive player--his ST play was a significant portion of his win IMHO.)

I'll give them credit for Travis Hunter, because it's the first time I think I've seen a non-QB win it on a team that wasn't basically an NCG contender.

But to me, so much of the Heisman is the reason that we call it the Hypesman often--and Hunter is certainly an example of that even if he doesn't match the overall "pattern".

Johnny Football wasn't the best player on the best team.  It was a good team, a great team, but not playing for the NC.
The QB from LSU was not in the playoff a few years ago (forgot his name).

When Stetson Bennett didn't win it I just gave up on the Hypesman.

My ex was fascinated by the big movie award, the Tony, or whatever it's called.  She'd go see movies in the running and then watch the show criticizing the choices.  I'd be elsewhere.  It's akin to gymnastic with East German judges, and worse.

Publicity games, and click bait rankings.

They were a top 10, 2-loss team. In the modern world they'd be CFP-bound.

And the hype machine was strong with this one...

Oscar is for movies, Tony is for theatrical productions.

Yeah, yeah, thanks, I guess.  I can't keep their names straight.  Don't they need some named after women?

I thought somebody said the best QB on the best NC team.

Besides, who would they have given it to?  Manti Teo ?  Colin Klein ?

So someone from here could get nominated?

Doubtful.

But a friend of mine won a Tony a couple years ago.  He's a co-producer for a revival show on Broadway.
