Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

If anyone's looking for a tradition, my sisters MIL always had a Thanksgiving "Gratitude Journal". A book full of empty lined paper and every year, everyone who is celebrating wherever she is has to write in it what they're thankful for.

When I met my wife, we've started doing that. So this will be our 9th year. It's always fun to go through and see prior years--especially things the kids have written as they've grown up.

As for us, the kids are at their mom's today, so it'll just be my wife and I. We're doing an Ina Garten crab & pea risotto recipe for dinner. But then tomorrow the kids come here, so we're having my in-laws over and doing Steaksgiving... Basically normal Thanksgiving sides but with steaks since my wife has a poultry allergy. She cooked the bird for us every year while I'd make her a steak, and eventually we just all decided that we might as all eat steak :72:

I think on reflection I'm going to just make 8 egg omelettes.

Brisket is in the oven.

Did the cranberry sauce last night.

On to the mashed potatoes and corn/lobster casserole.

I'm headed down to Casa Grande to have Friendsgiving with the same family going on 12 years now.

She always does some activity with her kids that is cute/deep, we usually throw the football around, etc.  She's a friend I taught with on the reservation.  She's midwestern and I introduced her to sweet tea, which I'm bringing down, along with lemonade and mutton.  The Navajo love their mutton, and her 3 oldest are half Navajo, so we make frybread and do all of that.

I'm feeling pretty burnt out in general, but I'm thankful for a job that allows me a comfortable living and a more-than-usual amount of time off.  Being too busy due to a side business getting a lot of orders is a better problem than the alternative.

I'm thankful for you guys, even when we squabble and name-call.  That's just part of it, I guess.  We are here due to a shared love for college football and the great chili debate.  We're probably harder on our own teams than the HC is at times, but it's because we love them so.

So Go Gators!  Throw one more lit match into that dumpster fire in Tallahassee.  And let's get a bowl and then participate in it!!!!  #lowbargoals

Corn/lobster casserole sounds ... interesting.

I think we'll go Chinese for lunch out as well, tradition you know.

The pilgrims didn't have turkeys. They had duck, deer, lobster, squash, corn, oysters, mussels, etc.

The brisket mimics the venison (which I hate). The lobster/corn is obvious. The potatoes mimic the squash. There is a trend in here somewhere.

We'll also have a roast turkey and a smoked turkey, to mimic the duck.

People are bringing lots of things.

I'm not too concerned with what Pilgrims might have eaten, I suppose we each have our traditions.

It's a nice Holiday, I don't plan to worry about much of anything.  I do look forward to having eggs.

headed to Sister in laws and her husbands place with a bunch of family coming together

traditional turkey and stuffing and a ton of side foods and deserts

flurries in the air and holiday music on

thankful that a group of people can gather and stay pretty civil while still cheering their favorite teams (the country could learn a bit from us)

Peace to all

Happy Thanksgiving!

The fire is rollin in the offset smoker - bird is spatchcocked and dry brined and ready

since there's a spatchcock - there's stovetop stuffin (for utee)

Chef is working in the kitchen, I served him a coffee and a bloody

Fancy corn, green bean casserole, Mashed taters, and plenty of wine are on deck

I enjoy both a homemade dressing and Stovetop stuffing.  Why choose?!?

76 and sunny in the forecast here today.

I'll admit loving SoCal weather, but warm Thanksgiving and Christmas are still a little weird to me lol...
