Yeah, if we just was the truest full season champ, I'd like to return to a poll based method, pre-1998. But I gave up with that argument because I'm happier when my words aren't pointless. Now I accept that we're doing this thing, and accept that it's already crushed bowl (Rose) traditions and risks encroaching on the import of the regular season. So I just want the smallest playoff to include P5 champions. So I want 6.
We're in this weird inflection point where even people who hated the idea of going from two to four think it'd be far better if we grew from four to six.
I'm absolutely fine with leaving out on P5 champ.  Heck, I don't have a problem leaving out 3 and just going with the 2-team playoff.
Earn your way in the playoff with your play on the field.  If that means playing a tougher schedule because of your conference, so be it.
Invites for the opportunity to grab the golden ring at the end of the season shouldn't be passed out to just any team.  And I certainly not worried about the fairness issue.  College football has been anything but fair for over 100 years, there's no easy way to make it fair.  First step might be to change the shape of the football so it would bounce fairly.
"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."
