Ohio State fans in general are not AT ALL excited about this team nor this game.

Seems odd to not be excited about being in the playoffs.  Literally a chance to play for a NC.  That Michigan loss must've really knocked the wind out.

Listen...OSU has been good to great almost every year for like 60 years. The downside is the average fan goes into a pit of despair and self loathing after every loss.

When the coach who is paid 10.3 mil. per and keeps running up the gut against 2 tackles  playing on sundays next season then you're going to have that. Fleet receivers are getting seperation well than then go to the bullpen if the QB is hurting and can't find them. But what do we know we're not pulling down his coin to figure out "maybe i should go out and break up this fight the lads have found themselves in". Instead he loitered about like he tumbled down from the mezzanine with out a clue

can’t speak for them but man beating Ohio State is the height of joy and losing to them is a pit of despair and hurt- it just really sucks- especially when it’s a streak. Urbs smacked Michigan for 8 in a row and that was ROUGH. They’ve only had half of that and trust me- it fucking sucks.

Having lost for 7 straight years to a division rival with our old coach, believe me, I get it.

I'm pretty sure our fans would still be excited for a team in the playoffs even if we lost to the Gumps again, and I'm noting that I'd have expected the same from Ohio State fans, or Michigan fans if they lost to OSU but made the playoffs.  One thing sucking does not necessitate a lack of joy about another thing.  I guess in this case it does.

I wish us Vols were so spoiled.

We were for a time, but a it's been a long stumble through the wilderness.
In the CFP era, I believe that Ohio State would have made a 12 team playoff EVERY SINGLE YEAR.  That is great and we love it, but it also means that a season where you lose to a crappy version of your rival AND have another loss AND don't win the league AND barely make the playoff is a "bad season".  It is all relative.

It did.  And it isn't just that.  Ohio State hasn't won the B1G since 2020.  The last time Ohio State went four years without winning the league was 2010-2013 but that includes the vacated co-championship from 2010.  The last time Ohio State fans didn't watch their team win the league for four straight years (whether subsequently vacated or not) was 30 years ago during the Bruce/Cooper transition (six years from 1987-1992).  The time before that was almost 60 years ago (also six years, 1962-1967).  2010-2013 and 1962-1967 were also less painful for another reason, Michigan wasn't winning then.  From 2010-2013 Wisconsin won three and MSU won two (one was shared).  From 1962-1967:
  • MSU won 2
  • MN, IU, and PU shared one (still the most recent for both IU and MN
  • IL won one
  • UW won one
  • M won one.
This recent stretch is more akin to 1987-1992.

No need.

These playoff tickets are the cheapest Vols have seen in 20 years.

A bargain.

FIFY

And therein lies the difference in demand.  For Tennessee fans who want to see their team play for the NC, this is their first opportunity since the inaugural BCSNCG in Arizona on January 4, 1999.  Since then, Ohio State fans have had the following opportunities to watch their team play for the NC:
  • 2002 BCNCG - won
  • 2006 BCSNCG - lost
  • 2007 BCSNCG - lost
  • 2014 Sugar Bowl - won
  • 2014 CFPCG - won
  • 2016 FiestaBowl - lost
  • 2019 FiestaBowl - lost
  • 2020 SugarBowl - won
  • 2020 CFPCG - lost
  • 2022 PeachBowl - lost

All that's fine, but I'm not sure that confirming you have a spoiled and entitled fan base is quite the flex you think it is. ;)
