yup, I expect the Bucks to bounce back

I'd guess Ryan Day has some motivation

Personally I don't see this game being close. I think Tennessee's offense is mediocre and defense isn't good enough to shut down the Buckeyes, unless Ryan Day decides to run up the middle over and over again. Hopefully he learned his lesson and hopefully the OSU o-line does it's job. And hopefully they take 7-10 yard outs off the playbook with Howard. Make him throw downfield to Smith and Egbuka and they'll be fine.

I reckon not many qualify huh?

Well, when you put up 718 yards against Chattanooga, 740 against Kent St, I tend to look at the specific games stats like 313 against FLorida, 345 against Oklahoma and 332 against Arkansas as a better gauge. 313 against Georgia, but their defense looks top tier to me and maybe thats a closer comparison to the Buckeyes D. All i'm saying is sometimes season stats and rankings can be a little misleading.

Every team swells their stats on pastries.  A viable comparison would mean every other team on that list loses their pastry numbers too.

The Vols in my view had a pretty competent offense.

Well sure.  But everyone with a pulse puts up monster #'s against creampuffs, so it sorta evens out, no?

while that's true.. not all teams swell it at that level. Secondly, numbers alone aren't a perfect science. Unless taking that argument means people are willing to say North Texas and New Mexico had better offenses than Ohio State and Oregon.

Not all, but yours and mine do.

Good point. Michigan offense was so bad and QB’s so atrocious that they didn’t put up monster #’s vs cream puffs.

Tennessee offense is significantly better than Michigan’s and well Michigan just beat Ohio State in Columbus.

Tennessee is #18 in SP+ offense, and #3 in defense.

Ohio State is #9 and #1

I thought the Vol offense was pretty dangerous, just my view watching them a few times and against the Dawgs.

I can of course cherry pick stats to make it look awesome or mediocre.

It is capable of either, as was seen throughout the season, but getting more consistent as the year played out.

There's a difference between cherry picking stats and looking at stats against teams that actually have a pulse. Now granted, I haven't watched all the Tennessee games, but the couple i have watched, I wasn't blown away. I also didn't say the defense was bad, I just don't think they have enough talent to shut down the OSU offense. In fairness, not many teams do as they are one of the most talented offenses in all of college football in my eyes.. and that's being said by a Buckeye disliker.

Ohio State should prevail, based on stats, and the line, and HFA.  I personally think the Vols are capable of upsetting the Bucks, but I don't expect that.  It all depends on the shoes.

I get the impression that the upper level teams this year are all inconsistent more than usual.
