Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson anchors a Michigan defense that is allowing just 12.8 points per game, which is third in the Big Ten Conference and sixth in the nation. Hutchinson, a 6-foot-6, 265-pounder, leads the Wolverines with six tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Take away the 3 late 4th QTR garbage time TD's scored in blowouts vs the 2nd and 3rd stringers and Michigan's 1st string D unit is actually giving up just 8.6 PPG.

Hutchinson is the best defensive player in the nation imo. And the edge player opposite him- David Ojabo is starting to break-out into a star. His emergence makes this defense a completely different animal because with the way they blitz Dax Hill and his 4.3 speed from different looks and every which way & with Aidan Hutchinson being virtually unblockable every snap- they get another pass rusher opposite Hutch- makes it almost impossible to block that front.

Russell Bellomy.  IIRC he threw more interceptions than completions
Thank you.  This year if Michigan’s back up QB has to enter a corn shit storm like Bellomy I’m much more confident he’ll be able to move the offense.

An interception really is a completion, no?

For anyone lucky enough to be headed to Lincoln this weekend............... here's the official invite
This is your formal invitation to Phil & Harry's BIG RED Sharkwater Party on October 9th!
On October 9th the Huskers will host the Michigan Wolverines in Lincoln, Nebraska.
With a great Kickoff time of 6:44pm.
We will be starting the tailgate party about 11am on Saturday.
Stop by, sit in a lawn chair, eat , drink, and talk college football.
Same spot as the past few seasons. A parking lot on the northwest corner of 8th and "L" Street. The lot is just three blocks south of "O" Street on South 8th street.  Near the Meadow Gold Dairy and under the Rosa Parks Way overpass.
Go to Google Maps and type in, "801 L Street, Lincoln, NE" or try this link:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/801+L+St,+Lincoln,+NE+68508/@40.8103181,-96.7099837,18z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x8796bf03ca51d6b7:0xf179fbb64906ef5d
If you get lost call my cell phone at (712) 870-1298.  I answer to Fearless
Bring whatever food and beverage you'd like. Harry will have a grill there. We’ll have burgers and brats and some beer (Bud Heavy)
A lawn chair and cheap sunglasses will come in handy.
I'll have paper plates, napkins, some mustard, a folding table, a cooler or two, and a large batch of "Sharkwater".
I’m hoping our Michigan Wolverine friends will attend the party!  Opposing fans ALWAYS make the party.
Yes, COVID interrupted this tailgate last season.  This will be my 19th Sharkwater Party.  Harry is kind enough to host the event at his tailgate party, so please be respectful.
Please let me know if you plan to attend.  Trying to get a rough head count.
Fearless Phil

Nebraska fellas, is this true?

"Nebraska's is switching up their starting Offensive Line on Saturday. Here is their plan:

LT - Teddy Prochazka - 0 starts
LG - Nouredin Nouili - 1 start
C - Cam Jurgens - 25 starts
RG - Matt Sichterman - 6 starts
RT  - Turner Corcoran - 6 starts"

Have the Nebraska coaches watched Aidan Hutchinson? This guy is making his first start vs a guy that's looking like a top 5 NFL Draft pick in 2022. That's a tough ask of any dude, let alone one with zero starts.

this is true, but the left side needed a change.  The O-line play has been awful this season, especially the left side.

Obviously, this lineup seemed to work last saturday vs woeful Northwestern - 400 yards rushing
it won't be so easy vs Michigan
could be ugly

I keep thinking of how Nebraska played Oklahoma and how Michigan played in the second half against Rutgers.  Somewhat similar offensive styles by Rutgers and Nebraska.  And Martinez is a much better QB than Rutgers.  So there is that to be concerned about.

Michigan needs to both pressure and contain Martinez.  There's a good chance you'll shoot yourself in the rear by flushing him out of the pocket.

I wonder if they found a formula that worked from a playcalling standpoint against Northwestern, and this is the better run blocking line?

Oklahoma is not all that. I watch Spencer Rattler play, and he's just not on the same level as Baker, Kyler, or even Jalen Hurts. Not even in the same stratosphere. Wonder how the kid was rated so highly. Believe he was an OMGERRRG FIVE STARZZZZ and the #1 QB his class.

Michigan has looked really good for 18 QTRs of football. That first half vs Rutgers should've been like 31-3 minimum, but Cade McNamara was spotty and missed a lot of throws- including a pair of wide open TD's. McNamara attempted 5 throws total in the entire 2nd half vs Rutgers and Michigan looked like shit, didn't score a point and gave up 10 points. That game shouldn't have even been close. McNamara under-performed in the 1st half and is the only reason why it was 20-3 and not 31-3, and then in the 2nd half that whole team just kinda shit the bed. It was a super weird two QTRs of bad football. The other 18 QTRs of football, Michigan has been pretty solid.

Martinez has been known to make mistakes and throw picks. You pressure any QB often and they're going to make mistakes. Key to this game for Michigan is to overwhelm that inexperienced Nebraska OL. Hutchinson needs to come to play and so does Ojabo.

Hard to learn anything from a beatdown of Northwestern. Northwestern is truly awful this year.

hopefully Hutch and Ojabo have taken the week off from practice cause they KNOW this will be a field day for NFL scouts
