#8 Michigan (3-0, 6-0) at Nebraska (1-3, 3-4) Post Game

Nebraska hung tough with the Sooners, took the Spartans into OT, and just spanked Northwestern.

Not thrilled that it's a 7:30pm night game. How's the OL Nebraska? Aidan Hutchinson has been wrecking OT's all-season long. David Ojabo has joined him the past 2 weeks in a row and really come alive. They keep getting production out of Ojabo going to be hard for teams to block this front- because Hutchinson simply can't be blocked by 1 guy.

Should be a doozy.

Unlike past years this Nebraska team plays defense. Special teams is a problem, penalties are a problem, and ball security is a problem. Michigan is better in these areas.

Michigan vs. Nebraska - Game Summary - October 9, 2021 - ESPN

The spread is only 3.5.  I think Nebbie pulls one out here.

I think Martinez leads the conference in passing yards. 😮

will Nebraska be able to run the ball on Michigan and will Nebraska's OL be able to handle Michigan's front? Aidan Hutchinson is unblockable and demands a double team. Nebraska's starting LT is a true frosh. That's not a good match-up for a true frosh. Tough ask for a true frosh to have to deal with a fully-realized senior Aidan Hutchinson playing out of his mind. David Ojabo is the young edge rusher opposite Hutchinson who has been feasting the last two weeks in a row. I think we'll see more and more big things from Ojabo as the season goes along. Dax Hill and his 4.30 heat-seeking missile speed is a problem coming on blitzes in every different direction- he's been a hard guy to get a read on for OL's as Michigan's new DC Mike McDonald sends him on blitzes on exotic looks. Michigan's MIKE LB Josh Ross has been very good blitzer as well this season.

PFF OL Chart:

PFF does not like Nebraska's OL. At all. IF they can't block Hutchinson & Ojabo and pick-up Dax Hill & Josh Ross on blitzes, Michigan rolls. IF they can rise to the task, then it becomes a pick 'em imo.

Nebraska has given up 18 sacks in 6 games. 3 a game. Michigan has better edge rushers than both OU and Michigan State, and Sparty had 7 sacks while OU got 5.

The other 6 sacks they gave up came vs some bad teams. Other 4 teams Nebraska played have been pretty bad. Illinois, Northwestern, Buffalo, & Fordham.

the Husker defense will have to play a helluava game to keep this one close

Martinez will have to play a great game while running for his life to put points on the board

Online oddsmakers had the Huskers as 4.5-point underdogs to the undefeated Wolverines, and that line quickly moved to five points shortly after opening. The Circa Las Vegas opened Nebraska as one-point underdogs, which moved to three points on Sunday afternoon.

Michigan enters Saturday’s primetime game with the Huskers at 5-0, and fresh off a 38-17 win at Wisconsin

Martinez is a dual-threat QB: There’s a good chance quarterback Adrian Martinez noted the success Rutgers had running the football in the second half against Michigan, especially with zone read and run-pass options. Noah Vedral taxed U-M’s defenders with deft fakes and strong decision making as the Scarlet Knights gained 156 rushing yards while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Unlike Vedral, who is a capable runner but prefers to pass, Martinez is a true dual-threat quarterback, the first Michigan has faced this season. Through six games, Martinez leads the Cornhuskers in rushing with 412 yards (fifth in the nation among quarterbacks), and nine rushing touchdowns, which is tied for third among all players regardless of position. Harbaugh said the U-M defense struggled with eye discipline against Vedral, and Martinez presents an even tougher challenge.

only thing that's making me nervous is that it's a night game in another time zone on the road in a place that historically is very tough to get wins at.

Michigan needs to bring it's A game or they'll lose. I don't think this team is looking ahead to anyone, as they'll have a bye week after this game- and the game off their bye week is Northwestern- probably the worst team they'll play all year.

I have to think they'll be ready to play. No trap game to look ahead too, and Nebraska just routed Northwestern. Hopefully that caught their attention a little bit.

I really think this one will be close because Nebraska has a very good defense and it's a home night game.

Nebraska 24  Michigan 20

You saw it here first.  Or second.  Or not at all.  If they don't win, you never saw this.

Martinez is the type of QB, very talented dual-threat, that has given Michigan fits over the decades.  I believe Donovan McNabb was the first to school Michigan in dual threat pain 1998.  The obvious key to the game from Michigan's perspective to limit the amount of damage Martinez dishes out.
A decade of Victory over Penn State.

All in since 1969
