Rain still predicted in Iowa City starting around 4pm CST,  with even a small chance of it turning to snow later.   Could be a soggy 2nd half today.

The worst part for Iowa is playing in the cold soaking rain all game long can take a toll and now the players need to turn right around and prepare for a road game @USC.   I am sure Iowa will get no sympathy any other Big Ten team, who all probably have their own travel horror stories.

It may be a stretch to say that the long snapper has cost Iowa 2 wins this year,  but long snapper mistakes certainly didn't help in 2 losses this year.

Iowa fans are starting to compare this 2025 season to its 2018 season,  when Iowa finished 9-4.   That year it seemed like most of the Iowa wins were blowouts and all the losses were in close winnable games where it was mistakes by Iowa that made the difference.

I see that Oregon has to do a quick turn around too,  hosting Minn on Friday night.   That has potential trap game written all over it for Oregon.   Oregon still has to play USC and Wash to finish the season.

I think Iowa and Oregon both could have benefited from playing the Iowa-Ore game 1 week earlier and then take the off week one week later.  Oh well,  everybody has to play the schedule they are given.

yup, Friday night is a quick turnaround - tough on the Gophers - Ducks sleep in their own beds

Iowa saturday to saturday isn't the issue, it's the travel

I couldn't believe how well Oregon plays Iowa style football. I actually expected them to play at a frenetic pace.
If Iowa hadn't given up two points on a long snapper's rocket shot over the punter's head into the end zone, and/or if Iowa had gotten the two point conversion which was caught with the heel in-bounds but thereafter the toe coming down out of bounds, the result would have been different. Iowa would be in the cat bird's seat.
Iowa is the team that makes few mistakes, but it made a few against Oregon, and yes, ManHawk described it correctly that this was not the first time the long snapper contributed to an Iowa loss this year.
