Boise State did about as well in Eugene as the Bucks did
I get that this is a subjective issue but IMHO, Oregon wasn't very good until at least the third week of the season and possibly until after their week off before UCLA.

In game #1 Oregon beat Idaho 24-14.  Idaho is an FCS team and not a great one (good, not great).  On top of that, it wasn't like Idaho scored late to make it look respectable.  Nope, Oregon scored the last points and was only up by a FG DEEP into the fourth quarter . . . against a good-but-not-great FCS team . . . at home.

In game #2 Oregon needed to comeback to beat Boise after trailing in the fourth quarter.

In game #3 Oregon obliterated OrSU but OrSU was so bad that it is hard to read much from that.

Oregon had week 4 off.

In week #5 Oregon obliterated UCLA.

My guess is that it took a while for the transfer pieces to gel and Oregon simply wasn't very good the first few weeks but who knows.
