Besides RB Edwards starting OG Keegan and LB Hill-Green should be back for the Iowa game.  I assume backup QB McNamara is still out with an injuries since I was not able to find any speculation otherwise.  And I could swear I saw backup OT Barnhart dressed on the sideline last Saturday so I assume he's good to go as well..
Edwards and Keegan coming back healthy will be a big boost to the offense. Keegan is one of the best guards in the B1G. Edwards completely changes that offense. He's an explosive RB that can also run between the tackles and he allows them to give Corum a break and keep Corum fresh, and Edwards completely changes the dynamic in the passing game- he is a complete mismatch in the pass game- he runs routes and catches the football like a WR. Pretty obvious they don't trust the true frosh RB CJ Stokes after he put the ball on the turf when Michigan was in the red zone. Never saw him again after that. Michigan needs Edwards back asap- glad to hear he'll be back this week.

TE Erick All not being able to play really hurts though. I am not a big fan of their other TE's. Don't see any explosion from Schoonmaker whatsoever. Not only is All a better blocker than Schoonmaker- but he's much more dangerous with the ball in his hands after the catch. See: Penn State game last year.

Iowa isn't going to blitz anyways, they'll stay in that cover 4 and play zone and drop 7-8 into coverage all day long and keep everything in front of them, but JJ has surprisingly done great this year vs the blitz. Highest passer rating vs the blitz in CFB so far through 4 weeks with 154.9, CJ Stroud is in the top 3 at 150.5 vs the blitz.

On a personal note: I am in rural NE Iowa. My mom (age 88), dad (age 90), my sister, my brother, are in Tucson, and my other sister is moving this week - to Tucson.
Ha I've been helping a friend pack two moving cubes/storage containers since sunday and will finish tomorrow(he has had neck/back operations and will need a knee replaced). His house just sold for 500K and they are moving to Phoenix to be closer to family but he wants to stay in Ohio - can't stand the heat. But his wife is working all week (dumb move)

If predictions about climate change are true, everybody will be moving from Arizona to the Midwest in 50 years.  I think I will just stay here when I retire.  I can just stay inside when it gets cold out.

I also predict the next coming fad will be retirement communities built around old abandoned shopping malls.  Where you can walk from your home to the mall without ever having to go outside.  Too bad I don't have any money to invest in this idea.

I have this idea about climate tourism where people from the South can visit and I charge them for the privilege to shovel snow off my drive.

Iowa doesn't blitz often, but they do, and when they come, they are usually effective

If I recall from December, Iowa likes to move it's LBs and DBs around to confuse and disguise.  This tactic may be somewhat successful as it was for Maryland.

like Jim said...Kinnick is a place where top 5 teams go to die. And he has ample experience in dying there- as both player and coach at Michigan. His 2016 team as coach when they were #2 in the nation and in 1985 as the starting QB of Michigan when they were the #2 team in the nation.

This game should scare the heck out of every Michigan fan. Michigan special teams need to be on their A game and JJ McCarthy has got to take care of the football. If the special teams comes to play like they normally do and JJ doesn't turn it over- Michigan absolutely should win this game. Iowa's only hope is if they get special teams TDs and defensive TDs/short fields. Which is very possible: lotta weird sh*t happens in Kinnick and JJ is an inexperienced guy making his first ever road start and really his 2nd real start- those first 2 starts might've well been vs the sisters of the poor.

To me JJ needs to protect the ball at all costs and not turn it over- play a clean game. Don't try that hero ball crap. Just play a clean game, protect the ball and get out with the W and he gets an A grade from me. He tries the hero crap and turns it over 2-3 times then he gets an F....and Michigan will be in serious trouble.
