There is a school of thought that Michigan is keeping things simple for Peters because he and many of his teammates on offense are young, inexperienced, and just not that good right now being a "rebuilding year."   Another theory is that Michigan has not had Peters pass more because they have not had to with the running game working so well.  No reason to open up the play book and put new stuff out there for Chryst and Meyer to game plan for.  So, this game should shed some light what is going on because a run-dimensional Michigan is not going to beat Wisconsin.

It's been pretty obvious to me that both coaches have been holding back this season. We saw some new wrinkles in the offense last week for Iowa and some of them worked. I suspect we'll see some more this week too. Gotta develop a great game plan against Dr. Blitz, after all.

According to weather channel there's a 90% chance of precipitation, a mix of rain/snow. Yuck. Not sure who this favors. Probably neither team. Just makes me think passing is going to be at a minimum. Might be a 9-6 type game. Neither team is great at passing, would've been hard enough as it is in perfect weather. Rain/snow/sleet? I'll be surprised if there's 250 yards passing combined for both teams.

sounds like Michigan CB LaVert Hill still hasn't been cleared from concussion protocol. Meaning- he probably won't play. Weather will minimize passing this game but that's still a blow. Hill is Michigan's best man to man corner and he's played at a high level all year and is one of the rising young stars in the conference.

I think people too quickly write off passing games in the snow.  It hurts the DBs more than anyone.  The QB and WRs know when the cuts are happening, the DBs have to react quickly in bad conditions.  Good QBs, particularly in systems with a lot of timing routes, thrive in snow.  Brady is an absolute killer in snow games.

You're talking about the greatest QB ever who has mastered one of the most complex timing systems there is with all kinds of option routes on top of option routes lol. Both of these offenses are pretty basic bitch compared to that. I think that weather helps a guy at that level for sure.

Every other QB? The mere mortals? I think it probably hurts them. These QBs playing this game are a far cry from Tom Brady lol. He gets that huge advantage in that kind of weather because of his incredible wealth of knowledge and his absolute precision. 95% of the time he knows where to go with the ball before the ball is even snapped.

I just feel like the weather is going to be a hindrance to QBs like Honinbrook and Peters.

Michigan went on an extremely fortunate run of really good QB play from like 1990 to 2007. Elvis Grbac then Todd Collins then Scott Dreisbach for like a year and a quarter of a season but injuries derailed his career and Brian Griese took over- then Brady/Henson, then John Navarre then Chad Henne.

Haven't really had good QB play since. Grbac was drafted by the NFL in the 8th round back in '93- Collins in the 2nd round few years after, Griese in the 3rd, Brady famously in the 6th, Henson in the 6th even though he quit football- he probably would've been the #1 overall pick had he picked football over baseball and played his final year at Michigan- Navarre in the 6th, and Henne in the 2nd round. Ryan Mallett would've been the heir apparent- he was the back-up to Henne in 2007 and started 3-4 games when Henne went down. RichRod got hired, Mallett transferred and the rest is history. Mallett was a locker room problem, lot of rumors his freshman year that his teammates didn't like him- and as everyone saw off-field problems caused him to fall to the 3rd round in his draft and cost him an opportunity to be a starting QB for the Texans. Great arm talent, just a complete dipshit of a person though.

17-18 straight years of really good NFL draftable QB play. Haven't had a QB since. One year stop gap of Jake Rudock was the best QB play they've had in that time span. Pretty remarkable when you think about how far it's fallen.

Right or wrong, UW's last three starting QB's are on NFL rosters. One of them is pretty good at it.

I'd say Wilson is more than pretty good, and he should've been drafted a lot higher than he was. He keeps on this trajectory he'll be in the HOF and go down as one of the all-time greats.

I know Tolzien is one of those and he wasn't drafted, I have no idea how the hell he's managed to stick around in the NFL because he's terrible, the Colts were like OK we need a real back-up QB so they traded for Jacoby Brissett. No idea who the other one is.

Side-tracking here- but for the life of me I don't get why NFL teams don't draft/develop real back-up QB's. Patriots seem to be the only freaking team in the entire league that does it.

you wanna win championships in the NFL?

#1.  get yourself a franchise QB - yes, I know there aren't enough to go around, GET ONE
#2. protect your franchise QB like Belichick.  Build a pass blocking O-line and keep RBs and TEs in to block if needed
#3. get yourself a serviceable backup QB, not many starters play all 16 games each season
