I think that the Rutgers/Iowa game tonight is interesting.

For one thing I still don't think we know much really about either team.  Rutgers beat Ohio which is more than WVU can say but Rutgers also played them at home and won by a FG while WVU played them in Athens and lost by a TD.  The Scarlet Knights' other two games were against Miami, OH and Norfolk St so who knows.

Iowa has two big wins but they were over Albany and UMASS so big deal.  Their loss might not be particularly bad as it was close (FG) and on the road to a team currently ranked #12.

The problem for Rutgers is that their schedule is brutal.  They play the top three teams in the league (@tOSU, vOre, vPSU) plus they have a West Coast road trip (@UDub) and trips to Illinois and Minnesota.  That is FOUR league games against teams currently in the top-10.  That doesn't leave Rutgers with a lot of room for error to make a bowl.

Iowa's schedule could be tricky as well.  They have four remaining games against currently ranked teams (#2 PSU, #6 Ore, #19 IU, #25 USC) and road trips to Madison and Lincoln.  I don't *THINK* this is going to happen but you could see this unraveling.

Hopefully there's a Purdue win in all that chaos.

We made the menu for the weekend, but now the oldest is going to his HS homecoming game and the youngest is going to a different HS's football game with a friend, so it's just us and the middle child tonight. Thinking we'll take him out somewhere instead of cooking at home.

We're probably going to end up here: https://www.theblindpigoc.com/

The thought of Notre Dame going 0-3 is delicious, especially with the 3rd loss being to Purdue.  Fingers crossed!

I'd love it as much as anyone but I just don't see it happening.

For all the wailing and gnashing of teeth of Notre Dame being 0-2 and ranked, if anything I think they are UNDERRATED.  Yeah, they are 0-2 but if you take the rankings at face value they:
  • Lost on the road at night by a FG to #4, and
  • Lost at home by a single point on a botched XP Snap to #10.
That tells me that they are almost as good as those teams.  Change two plays and they are 2-0 and probably #2.

Yup, folks make way too much of close losses early in the year, every year.
