It's hard to be great at a place like Wayne State. He seemed like a good RB coach at Michigan.
I mean they went to the D2 national championship in 2011.  They aren't a terrible D2 school.  Across 5 seasons at Morgan State and Wayne State, Wheatley is 10-46.  He went 0-11 this year

M* needs an old sage to get the program back to normalcy Wheately doesn't bring that. Woody wasn't an OSU guy and Bo wasn't an M* man, hell Saban wasn't a Bama guy

Edit: By all means bring Tyrone aboard  - as HC

I saw that. The two years before he got there, they were 2-9 and 1-9. Not a powerhouse and yeah, I get he just went 0-fer. I think with proper grooming he could be good. Would the fanbase buy it? Not sure about that. What about Ron Bellamy?

I think he is the best name out there aside from Whittingham.  Vandys coach kind of disappeared from the search

Plus you see MAC coaches leave to be coordinators.  WMU just had a historic year for them.  Id rather bring him over as coach in waiting to Whittingham

I disagree.  If he can claim he was offered the job, and turned it down to stay, that has to help fundraising.

Guessing he was interviewed, and then they waited on DeBoer

he wasn't. because if he was, he would've taken it. they seemed zeroed in on DeBoer- who is not coming. if they had simply went all in on Dillingham and sent emissaries to go to Arizona the deal would've been done in a finger snap.

this is truly fucking pathetic groveling from Dillingham....it is absolutely delusional and desperate, you think he wants to be doing this? And newsflash Dilly: stop with the delusions of grandeur- there aren't a whole lot of people with that kind of money in Phoenix, Arizona who can just stroke a $20 million check like it's monopoly paper fake money. And if there is....they more than likely do not give zero fucks about Arizona State football. You're not in like Boca or Palm Beach where there are billionaires fucking everywhere and your school also isn't exactly known for having ridiculously wealthy people come out of it.
