I mean it was bound to happen when Ohio State got Julian Sayin in the same class as Air Noland. They both weren’t sticking around. Add in the fact that they just brought in a 5* QB in the 2025 class writing was on the wall. It ain’t a bad problem to have. Ryan Day is doing it right, you recruit a bunch of 5* QB’s and eventually one will stick around and pan out. 

I think Day has handled the QB situation at Ohio State pretty well. The only thing I’d have done differently is just stick with McCord and develop him in Year 2 in the system not go in the portal and get Will Howard who I think is pretty meh. Other than that small complaint I think Day is doing about as good a job with QB’s as any coach in America.

Yeah agreed. I assume he was behind Sayin in the depth chart and saw St Claire coming and realized the path to starting was going to be a son of a bitch. 

I definitely think St Claire is the most physically talented of the bunch and is likely the next star QB at Ohio State meanwhile Sayin is much further ahead of Noland in terms of playing the position and being a refined product. He almost had no choice but to leave. Got recruited over.

I don't know about "bigger name", but definitely "cooler name". 

I mean, who doesn't want their team's QB to be named "Air Noland". It's almost as cool as any QB named "Gunner". 

The best option would be "Riflearm Howitzer", but I don't know if we'll find one of those...

...but if we do, he'll be born deep in SEC territory

portal crop seems a little weak this year. don’t see any real stars like Hunter or Downs or Judkins in it.

Maybe you get lucky and take a kid at a small school who winds up being a star like Sparty did with KWIII but I feel like that’s hitting the lottery, pretty rare.

MSU added a couple WRs out of the portal.  Really interested in Crishon McCray who was All-MAC on a historically bad Kent State team.  Very different room next year with Foster graduating, and Glover transferring.  I liked Glover a lot, and FSU nearly poached him, but hes one of those guys who looks better in shorts.  IMO, Aziah Johnson, a true freshman who didnt play much, and is also transferring, is the bigger loss. 

So now its Marsh, these two transfers and a 3/4* true freshman from Ohio.  I think Alante Brown might have another year if he wants it, but hed be a 6th year senior coming off back to back season ending injuries, so he might just hang em up

I actually disliked when he signed with OsU for that exact reason. I loved his name but didn’t want to root for him. Hopefully now I can.

Transfer portal player ratings by 247Sports

the Washington State QB John Mateer that just entered the portal a couple days ago is the #1 rated player in the portal in their rankings. Is he really though? Or is he just the best QB available?

oh definitely agree with that, he's not on Ward's level. Not even close. Just find it funny this guy is #1 ranked player in the portal rankings meanwhile Cam Ward was the 14th ranked player in those same 247 portal rankings last year.

Julian Sayin who had yet to even play a down, Aidan Chiles who was great in spot duty as a freshman, Dante Moore who was pretty lousy as a freshman, Isaiah Bond & Evan Stewart who were good college WRs but not exactly MH JR or even close, and like 8 other guys were ranked ahead of Ward in those rankings. Ridiculous. Only dude that should've been allowed was Caleb Downs because he was a legit All-American level safety and future 1st round pick and that was evident day one of his true frosh year.
