Oregon also just flipped this kid....4* QB who had been committed to Cal for like a year. The #88 ranked player overall and #9 QB.

Fuck. Oregon.

You can't take this stance against Oregon yet celebrate Michigan flipping people. It's the same exact dang concept.

yeah I can. I want Oregon to rot and die on the vine. B1G made one of the all-time greatest fuck ups in college sports history by throwing them a life line and inviting them to come into the conference.

Yup, freezing Oregon out of the major conferences would have been the best decision.

Of course now Michigan has its own mega-multi-hundred-billionaire who could buy Phil Knight 6 or 7 times over, so I guess they won't need to  worry as much.
OK, if this is a joke, I don't get it.  Who are you referring to?  Jim Harbaugh?

I didn't even realize today was NSD.  I guess I'm still stuck in the past.  Besides, with the portal, a lot of these kids won't even see year 2.  If you recruit a stud 4*, and they're a bust, no problem, just go out to the nearest directional school and recruit all the best undervalued players.

he's referring to Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle who is on Forbes' list as the 2nd richest person on the planet with a net worth estimated at around $240 billion. Ellison's wife is a Michigan grad and she's been very active in funding NIL.

I know who Larry Ellison is (but I've never directly used Oracle).

what was the other option? let them go to the SEC so that conference gains more power and eventually swallows all other conferences? They're currently hated because of the Phil Knight spend.. ok sure.. but the Phil Knight spend can't be hated while embracing the Larry Ellison spend. I personally hate it all, but it's also where the game has gone. Unless there's a time machine, there's no fixing nor changing it and there would still be the guys dropping off secret bags of money that people could still complain about.. which.. i can confidently say that Michigan was involved in those activities at some point as well.

Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington would fit better in the XII - or even better - in the f'ing PAC.

The SEC had no interest in Oregon or Washington, that was a weird panic move by the B1G offices.

I think USC/UCLA was more of the panic move.  Nobody in LA gives a shit about them.  Once you grabbed them, whatever, go get the two programs with actual fanbases

Other than the obvious geographic problem, why is everyone so down on Oregon? Because they have money and they are good?

Anything else?

Oh I completely agree.. and I hate what these moves did to the college football landscape.. Texas.. pac 12.. you name it..  I'd prefer to go back to what it was. PAC 12 being dismantled sucks, but if USC, UCLA and Washington were going to be added, then Oregon should be viewed as a great asset to the conference, not a nightmare.
