Your opinions...

Should they change the NFL rules to get rid of tie games in the regular season?

If so, how?

----------------------------

I think they should keep the current change (where both teams get a possession), but make the overtime period 15 minutes long. In last night's game, Dallas' overtime possession ended in a field goal because they were stopped with goal to go. T
hell, make it 30 minutes

If you're making it 30 minutes, you're effectively saying that you refuse to let games end in a tie. Because 30 minutes allows potentially enough drives from both sides that someone after the first two drives in the modern NFL is inevitably going to score.

Which is fine. I completely understand the idea that a game shouldn't end in a tie. But if that's the case I might go more down the road of doing a 15 minute OT period then move to the college system from there, or something like that. Or just make the OT period unlimited. You play until one team ends it. And frankly in the playoffs that'd be a decent idea IMHO.

My idea is predicated on the idea that I'm ok with games ending in a tie. It's not about avoiding the tie as much as it's giving enough time that statistically you won't have the team who gets the ball second having to contend with the clock running out, because the goal of the new system is each team getting a chance, and team #1 doesn't have that constraint.

I know sometimes the NFL also does alternate or throwback uniforms...

...but since when are the Dolphins going blackout uniforms?

(Full disclosure: I'm colorblind... Looked black to me.)

pretty freaky when you consider the guy is a 6'4, 240 pound linebacker with that kind of top gear.

I knew Addison wasn't a  burner and he stumbled a bit, but geez, white big boy closed on him in a hurry.
It was a big play
