The week of Oct. 23-29, looking back in five-year intervals

1896: Nebraska shrugs off Wilson Tucker’s 107-yard touchdown run for Missouri and rallies for an 8-4 victory in Columbia. Halfback Leonard Packard’s 25-yard run provided the winning margin.

1901: Missing four starters, the Cornhuskers still roll over Iowa State, 17-0, outyarding the visitors by 390-25.

1906: It’s described as “little more than a practice romp” as Nebraska uses long runs to thump Doane, 28-0.

1911: Owen Frank scores three touchdowns (or four, depending on which game story you choose) as Nebraska dominates Missouri, 34-0.

1916: Two days after returning from a long West Coast trip, the Huskers put on a sluggish performance but still have little trouble defeating Nebraska Wesleyan, 21-0.

1921: Glen Preston’s 70-yard punt return for an early touchdown sets the tone as Nebraska has its way against Oklahoma on a muddy field in Lincoln, 44-0.

1926: The Huskers pull away in the fourth quarter for a 20-3 win at Kansas. Glenn Presnell scored two of Nebraska’s three touchdowns.

1931: George Sauer’s short touchdown run early in the second quarter gives the Huskers a 6-0 win over Kansas. The Jayhawks were held to just 68 yards and three first downs.

1936: Lloyd Cardwell’s 25-yard pass reception and Harris Andrews’ 66-yard run lift NU to a 14-0 win at Oklahoma.

1941: Missouri drives 66 yards for a second-half touchdown and a 6-0 win over Nebraska in Columbia. An official’s crucial no call in the fourth quarter had Husker fans fuming.

1946: Indiana rides the arm of Ben Raimondi, the nation’s leading passer, to a 27-7 rout of Nebraska. The Huskers picked up just two first downs and were outyarded by 397-68.

1951: Nebraska can’t keep pace with Missouri’s offense as the Tigers ring up a season-high point total and upset the Huskers, 35-19.

1956: Nebraska puts up a lackluster effort on offense in a 16-0 loss at Colorado. Bob Stransky and John Bayuk each topped 100 yards rushing for the Buffaloes.

1961: Missouri shuts out Nebraska for a fourth consecutive year, 10-0. The Huskers failed to score even after recovering a fumble at the Mizzou 15.

1966: Ben Gregory runs for two touchdowns as the Huskers dominate Missouri on both sides of the ball, 35-0

1971: Johnny Rodgers’ record-setting 92-yard punt return caps Nebraska’s scoring in a 41-13 romp at Oklahoma State. Dave Mason scored on a 28-yard interception return in the second quarter.

1976: A 98-yard pass on third-and-14 in the fourth quarter is the backbreaker as visiting Missouri sends Nebraska to a 34-24 defeat. Also, former Husker basketball coach Jerry Bush dies at age 62 while taking a walk near his Lincoln home.

1981: Nebraska wins a nail-biter at Missouri, 6-0, on Phil Bates’ 3-yard touchdown run with 23 seconds remaining. The score capped a 64-yard drive that featured three key pass completions by Turner Gill.

1986: Colorado puts the brakes on NU’s running game and upsets the third-ranked Huskers in Boulder, 20-10.

1991: Nebraska crushes Missouri, 63-6, as Keithen McCant throws three touchdown passes and the Huskers roll up 500-plus yards rushing.

1996: Quarterback Scott Frost has a breakout game, passing for 254 yards as NU annihilates Kansas, 63-7.

2001: Freshman Mike Stuntz’s touchdown pass to Eric Crouch on a trick play in the fourth quarter lets Nebraska pull away from Oklahoma, 20-10, and snap the Sooners’ 20-game winning streak.

2006: Nebraska falters after jumping out to a 16-0 lead and falls at Oklahoma State, 41-29.

2011: The Blackshirts come up big against Kirk Cousins and No. 9 Michigan State, holding the Spartans to 187 yards in a 24-3 win.

FF you happy with Ruhle? Seems to be pedestrian not a disaster but not sure that contract should be reflecting pedestrian. However they've swung and missed before so I can see standing pat unless things really take a dive
