This week in Husker history

1906: Nebraska makes plans for a practice game in May as a test run of new collegiate football rules that allow forward passes and require 10 yards instead of 5 for a first down.

April 6, 2013 - Jack Hoffman, a 7-year-old pediatric brain cancer patient from Atkinson, ran 69 yards to score the final touchdown of the Nebraska Football Spring Game on April 6, 2013.

Jack’s miniature uniform included a No. 22 jersey, the same as Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead, who had befriended Jack and become captain of the support network known as “Team Jack.”

More than 60,000 fans cheered him on.
