good thing he's not planting that flag in Ohio, otherwise he'd be breaking the law.

UF had to distance itself from this quote, as the radical liberals deemed it racist.  Some racist garbage human being white people would literally bait alligators with black people.  Even though a black, Thorpe award-winning player popularized it 150 years later....nope.

Yes, the extremes on either end of the spectrum are absurd.  Duh.

Here is a B1G projected power ranking from CFN:

  • Ohio State
  • Michigan
  • Penn State
  • Oregon
  • Illinois
  • Southern California
  • Indiana
  • Michigan State
  • Iowa
  • Minnesota
  • Nebraska
  • Wisconsin
  • Washington
  • Rutgers
  • Maryland
  • UCLA
  • Northwestern
  • Purdue

So my assertion is:
  • If you are Iowa:  You want Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Nebraska at home.
What did they actually get:

Iowa gets Indiana, MSU, and MN at home but has to travel to Lincoln.
I am using https://masseyratings.com/cf/fbs/ratings (The Big Ten looks way over-ranked).

At home: #19 Iowa gets #133 UMass, UAlbany, #12 Indiana, #5 Penn State, #24 Minnesota, #7 Oregon, and #65 Michigan State.
Iowa Road: #22 Iowa State, #45 Rutgers, #34 Wisconsin, #14 USC, and #37 Nebraska

I have seen Iowa's schedule ranked #4 elsewhere. There could be some upsets on the home schedule for Iowa. I am looking forward to this season as Iowa appears to have some pop in this year's offense, which has been largely missing for the past 6 or so years.

Every SOS I have seen has Wisconsin ranked #1, and I just do not see much hope for Luke Fickell's Badgers this season. They had poor player retention. Granted they had luck in the transfer portal, but poor player retention and the #1 SOS in the Big Ten for Wisconsin is not a good sign for them, or Luke Fickell. His buyout is over $30M at the end of 2025.
I fear that Bucky Badger is on a decade long downward spiral from which it will recover - later.

Wisconsin may well be a better team than last year yet have a worse record.

Gotta beat the old West teams plus Indiana and Maryland, as used to be mostly a given.

yes, I don't expect them to have the same season as last year but they're much better than 3 or 4 years ago

How many players are they getting from JMU this year?

Agree on the coach. I wonder how long he stays.

I predict at least one team will end up looking a lot better than projected, and at least one will end up worse.

I don't know which team obviously.  I'm going to GUESS USC better and Illinois worse.  Pure guess, based on ... guesswork, I'm guessing.

Wisconsin may well be a better team than last year yet have a worse record.
I think this is extremely likely and I just wonder how the UW Administration will view that.

The Badgers simply have to win the easy and winnable games because getting to a bowl will be difficult even with a pretty good team.  My rough guesstimate of their schedule ranked toughest to easiest (taking HFA into account):
  • at Bama
  • at Oregon
  • at Michigan
  • vs Ohio State
  • at Indiana
  • vs Iowa
  • vs Illinois
  • at Minnesota
  • vs Washington
  • vs Maryland
  • vs Miami, OH
  • vs MTSU

Frankly 2-4 against those toughest six would be something of an achievement and the games against Illinois and at Minnesota are far from givens.  If they end up 8-4 against this slate they should give Fickell an extension.  If they go bowling they should give him at least another year.
